[Kenneth1704] A Photo A Day 2015 (Mobile Version)

Very interesting photo journal. I kinda like the way you describe the background of your photo. Almost can feel what you are feeling when you took the photos. Like the feel of Japan as well. Jia You! :)

Thank you! I will try to keep up the posting! :)

I enjoy viewing your photos of Japan in this thread with their accompanying notes. Looking forward to more. You're privileged to be able to work in Japan as well as to learn Japanese and experience the culture first-hand. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! It's my first time cracking my brains over what I should post each day also! :D

Urban City Clutter
[2015/1/12]

BG Info: In Japan's big cities, we can normally see things that we are not used to. Cluttering is very common here as most of the time, the advertisers are free to put up whatever they want. The only places we dont find cluttering in Japan would probably be the countryside. In Singapore's case, our cityscape is quite controlled, so we do not get to see this kind of cluttering. The Cluttering only gets worse at night when you see the neon lights.

Octocat from Github!
[2015/1/13]

BG Info: One of the global partners sent this to my boss this morning. It came in the registered mail. My boss collected it without knowing what was in the package, when we opened the package, all the team members getting hysterical when they saw what it was. I admit, it is actually quite cute.

Naka-Itabashi Station
[2015/1/14]

BG Info: I dont know how much I hated this station. Because the trains in Japan has different speeds (Limited Express, Express, Semi-Express, Local, etc.), my train home always stops at this station for up to 5 minutes for one (faster speed) train, sometimes two trains, to pass through before continuing. I wont say that this is an interchange, but it is just a bigger stations with more train tracks to cater for through trains. The coming train is the express train, which is passing through.

Underground Bicycle Park
[2015/1/15]

BG Info: Many places in Tokyo are actually bike-accessible. With the amount of bicycles you see in town, one can wonder where do all these bicycles go when they are not used. Many train stations provide parking with a fee. You can pay up front for hourly parking, or if you are a frequent user, you can pay by per month basis (seasonal parking ticket). This bicycle park is actually quite normal looking. The cyclist just bring the bicycle to the basement of the train station through the ramp provided and select a spot to park the bike. There are bike patrols working there to make sure that you are not free-loading on the facilities. When you park you bike, you need to register your bike serial number with them so they can take note in event of thefts as well. Other stations have more advanced parking mechanisms, which I have only heard of, have not really seen them yet.

Hey it's Friday! Are we hanging out tonight?
[2015/1/16]

BG Info: Fridays in office are usually very slow-paced. Recent weeks' Fridays are all loaded with long meetings which consist of 2-hours meeting before lunch and maybe 2 to 3-hours after lunch. Things starts to get monotonous after a while. Normally by the time it hits 3pm, I feel so physically drained and have no motivation to do anything because of the long meetings. I am sure it's time for some well-deserved breaks soon.

Peeping out for the new year.
[2015/1/1]

BG Info: This was a soft toy (lent to me) which i brought to Tokyo when I came over to work in April 2014. I kept it on my bed all these while and it so happened to be under my pillow when i woke up on the 1st of January 2015 morning, so I decided to take a shot of it.

Green vs Red
[2015/1/17]

BG Info: It has been a while since I last saw the sky this bright when it was 5pm. I end work at 5:30pm on weekdays, and the sky has already been pitch black by then. Sunset was slightly before 5pm for the past weeks. I guess the day is lengthening again. So long for evening Blue Hour. On a side note, it is winter and the bushes on the roadside cannot make up their minds. As green as Summer, and as red as Autumn.

Sunday Supermarket
[2015/1/18]

BG Info: I tend to go to the Supermarket once a week or so to buy what I need for the week. Staying alone means that nobody will be preparing what you will need for you. You have to be the one to buy what you need, prepare your own things. Normally the supermarket is the most crowded on Saturdays and Sundays. That is also the time when they have fresh produce coming in.

Office View
[2015/1/19]

BG Info: This is the office view that I have. The Tokyo Tower is just visible at the right side of the frame. I did mentioned somewhere that I could see Tokyo Tower from my office. Japan's culture of overtime work is not really healthy if you ask me. People work overtime because of incentives. Personally, I believe that health is more important. Therefore I refuse to do any work that exceeds 5:30pm (official time to end work).

Seminar Week
[2015/1/20]

BG Info: This week is a little dull compared to previous weeks. I am stuck in the compulsory seminars which we have no way to escape from, regardless. So this is the room that I will be in for almost the whole week, from Monday to Thursday. It just means that I get to skip the meetings in the office while I am on course, but then, the content of the courses does not really make me feel any better.

My Trusty Alarm Clock
[2015/1/21]

BG Info: My alarm clock is set to 6am in the morning. Usually I will just take my own sweet time to get out of bed and get ready for work. Normally, I get out of the house between 7am to 7:10am. It takes about 15 minutes on average to walk to the train station. Today is Wednesday. There is still two more weekdays to the weekends. I hope everyone will a great week ahead (or whatever that is left over)!

Till it's spring again
[2015/1/22]

BG Info: This is a small park right beside where I am staying. On normal weekdays, it is very quiet. But when the weekends come, it is full of children. Sometimes you can hear them screaming around at 8am on a Saturday morning, which turns it into a very lively place. Now that it is winter, the trees here are bare. When Spring arrives, these trees sprout fresh sakura flowers which gives the park a pinkish tint.

Flipping Desktop Clock
[2015/1/23]

BG Info: My colleague's desktop clock is so interesting. This number flipping clock is so mesmerising and sometimes you can stare at it till no end. There is a mechanism at the bottom which counts the seconds but it is not really visible. This numbers go in a cycle and continue flipping every time the minute or hour changes. Initially, I could daydream in office just by staring at the clock. Especially after lunch, when you feel the blood sugar rushing and you get sleepy. Anyway, this is the time I normally reach the office in the morning.
