Kawan Rates for Friend's Wedding.

too cheem for me to understand.

The bride offers NT$3600 (about S$151.00) for a wedding day event coverage, and said she is consider quite pretty and have a good figure, can let photographer do a portfolio building.

Here are the direct translation of postings by forum members;

You look (the bride's face and figure) does not entitle you a discount

You are insulting the photographer, and ruining your own wedding

Ask you relatives to shoot, the money not even enough for an Ang Pow to anyone.

You don't respect photographers.

Got money to held wedding in Taipei! no money to hire wedding photographer?
Petty brides are plentiful, ignorant brides like you are hardly seen.

Use your own wedding to do barter trade, you really don't respect your own wedding.

Good looking, good figure, want barter trade. You really think you are celebrity?

Please share your NT$3600 wedding photos after your wedding.

Wow, you really summarised the main Gs of that forum.

the taiwan bride eventually apologised for requesting for such low kawan rates.

Kawan rate only if the photographer is your good kawan and willing to shoot at such a low rate.

Not your kawan how to shoot at such a low rate?

I am not against beginners doing it for low wage to build their portfolio, but try not to openly post and expose to people that you are spoiling market. At least you can pm TS privately. Well it takes two hands to clap. Hopefully the couple's hand don't slap the beginners photos with nasty remarks if they turn out bad, because both party are taking the risk.

i agree, i'm not against beginners doing it for low wage now to build portfolio, its good for them...

Before you blame anyone, just looking into the mirror and ask urself why I am lousier than someone doing part time or as a hobby.

Blaming other is not a solution

understand the market as well armee... most clients go for pricing rather than quality... for me, i'd say they are not the market that i want to go for, but these clients that go for pricing rather than quality overpopulate the market... and of course the part timers and some hobbyist are there to spoil the market.

i'm all for fighting a project in terms of quality, but i cannot fight price, the part timers and the other hobbyist can afford to fight for price, thats why i'm saying if only they would fight for quality rather than price it will raise up the average pricing rather than bring it down.

maybe part of the job description is to befriend with TS's friend..... lol

Kawan Rates for a friend's wedding on 12th October 2014. 7am-12pm then 6pm-11pm.
Budget is $350.

No edits.
Just Raw.

Get in touch with portfolio and queries if you have any.

Thanks.

Spending $350 as a wedding gift to your best friend can consider quite decent.
but $350 to hire a "wedding photographer" is definitely not enough, probably some newbie photographers willing to take up,
so ask yourself, can your friend, the wedding couple afford to lose their wedding photos? and what if he can't, so does he deserve this?

even you are looking for a backup photographer, do you know inexperience photographers will only pose hindrance to professional photographer during a face pace event like wedding?
What if the photographers give you 3500++ pieces 24MP RAW files, but all shot fully auto mode and in wide angle focal length setting.
How long and how much efforts will take you to sort and post process all this?

So Okey, $350 is the maximum that you can afford, but have you heard about crowd funding?
find a few friends to pool the money together to hire a better known wedding photographer,
the wedding couple will appreciate your thoughtfulness, and your mutual friends will also thank you for saving their headache for what wedding gift to get, so you will make everyone happy.

I think it will not be fair to criticize to TS based on own assumption.
Let say TS friend is not planning to have photographer due to financial constrain.

Then TS is good friend and want to help him based on his affordability. $350 is a lot for individual.

Even shot in auto mode, it will be fine as long as it is in Raw. So TS put his effort to edit and look good.

In 1000 photo, 100 looks good will make his friend happy.

I think we should all read this and learn valuable lessons from it. This is a classic example why photographers who are making it a full-time job don't come cheap. It's because we take pride in what we do, and we want to make our clients look their best. There is a reason why opinions are divided here so I'm just putting in my 2 cents worth.

Have u ever heard couple sue to photographer in Singapore because of photos are not up to the standard?
Sorry it is not applicable in Singapore.

Don't be too quick on the trigger. Even if it hasn't happened before, that doesn't mean it won't happen in future

You have too much faith in RAW and PP.

The wedding couples just need to take the photographer to small claims tribunal is more than enough to make some damages to his career or business.

You don't get my point.....

since the photographers are not post process the photos, why would F- care who do the sh1t work for him?

FYI, I have know someone shot 4000++ RAW files for a friend's wedding..

and many photographers are giving 2k++ images to wedding couples, their selling point is.."Never miss a moment" lol
