Haha! Yes, I did drink the water, after the second time after they reminded me... looks like they are pretty anxious for me to drink it! Heh...

Is it a superstitious custom? Sort of like using the dollar bill from the first sale to touch all the goods?

In case you want to know, the $1799 special price is still available even for those who did not pre-order in advance but seems stocks are running low.....and no...no one gave me a drink! :bsmilie:

and in case you don't know $1799 is not special price. Pre-order here is just for in case if there is not enough stocks shipped, people pre-ordered get the priority to get it first.;)

alamak...I have not been reading enough here. The lady told me "retail" price of Body only is $2088. Hence $1799 is a special price for Pentaxians. Then they went into this "so pentax owners are called pentasiians or pentians etc"...:)

So I guess everybody got special price on K7 :bsmilie:

I guess the price may not be so special after all.

What about the 18-month warranty as in original 'special pre-order' offer? Have problems submitting warranty registration online, so emailed Emjay about that, and also length of warranty. No reply yet..

The camera comes with 6 mths warranty. You need to pay an additional $68+ for a 12-month extension. The extension appears to be available till end of the month.

I am pretty sure those moving from K20 to K7 would be a breeze but K100/K200 users probably have some conversion blues. Some peeves include needing to press a button to switch mode. For the CCD stablisation, you need to go to the menu to switch it but once its on, you can't tell if its working. (you can hear the stabilisers at work on the K200D but no sound from the K7! good and bad...heh ).

Also, the movie mode is not as great as anticipated because you really need to continuously focus. Its not good to set it at infinity, so it definitely cannot act as replacement for a PnS video mode. Also, the image display takes longer to show after each shot. I think these makes getting used to from someone who is so familiarwith the K100/200 series instead. :)

Scratching head here..

6 months warranty only? It should be a year at least, for electronics. And Emjay did mention 18-month warranty for pre-orders.. part of its 'special offer' for Clubsnap members who pre-order. I'm hoping I didn't misunderstand anything..

From what I know, the press-and-twist needed to change mode is new to Pentax DSLRs.. the K10/20D don't have this.

SR is on by default, so need to menu-dive to switch it off.

And haven't really tried video mode.. not that keen on it anyway, but should be useful at times.

Yes. We got special price. I think the price given to the retailers is actually $1799. But i said the pre-order price is supposed to be $1790. So i guess we got a $9 discount

Was also thinking what happened to the 18 months warranty. Similarly could not register the warranty. Error message "The serial number is invalid or is already registered"

The sticker on the box says 1 year warranty. For international warranty - 6 months.......:dunno:

Hi
My bad. Should be 12 months warranty by default. Its written on the MJ (Emjay...not Michael Jackson!) label. i got confused because the lady at MS Color told me only 6 months and the label did indicate 6 months but for international purchases.
Seems the SR is off by default leh and had to be switched on.
Looks like need to read the manual before making more wrong comments...:embrass:
Overall feels only slightly heavier than the K200D but the size is not a problem (the K20D feels to big in my hands). :)

My guess its because you pre-ordered, then the warranty start date can be determined, so Emjay already registered for you. You may want to check with them.
:)

By the way. made a boo boo today for those I informed...sorry to all. There is a hair shaving event for charity at Velocity (NOT vivocity) from 12pm onwards tomorrow (Sunday). I understand there will be alot of men and some women going through it so there will be alot of expressions to capture. Anyone interested in being there to take some shots? If you do go, remember your Pentax t-shirts!

Can the others register warranty for K-7 online? I can't. :(

I've emailed Emjay yesterday about this, awaiting reply.

As for Emjay already registering for pre-orderers, possible.. but unlikely. How do they know our details (they only have our names and contact numbers)? And how can they be so sure pre-orderers don't back out, since we didn't pay any deposit, and be confident enough to register warranty for the camera beforehand?

Anyway, let's wait and see..

Oh, I did remember turning it on.. for video mode.

Can't quite remember for normal photo mode, but it seems to be on already by default. I may be wrong though.

Hi, sorry I'm a noob; read through this whole thread, but still a bit confused. So if I want to order, I have to call Emjay to place an order, then collect from a normal retailer, right?

Why you need to place an order when it is available in the shop for sales from tomorrow.:dunno:

yeah MSC seems to be having this thing where retail price is one, price for "pentaxians" is another one. When I went to check out the da*50-135 same thing. $1179 for "pentaxians", for public it was $1399
