No reverse mount, no close up filter, just 200F4 and PN11...

Here is a preview shot, will put up more indepth analysis soon

First photo and it had to be flies having a go at each other! Your timing very good la!

BTW, what's your rough working distance with that combo?

Oh ya.. walked to mrt in the morning to collect back my 10-22 from friend,

brought the combo along to take some shots before coming home.

The plants were all rather dull so this would be one of the better catch already

however shooting conditions far from optimal, DOP at F4 was really thin, the leaf there were on was moving in the wind, the area didnt have good light and i didnt bring monopod/tripod.I increased ISO to 800/1000

Basically i would not recommend anyone to use this combi without tripod.. MF with the long focal length and thin DOP really takes some skills..

Working distance about 3/4 metres from cam body to subject. The image above has taken a slight crop as well.

I feel that without closeup filter/ reverse mt, the max size of image that can appear is probably only that of a 90mm 1:1 macro lens (provided you can get close enough)

Furthermore, the focusing range with the PN11 on is quite constricted.

and the 200mm does make you not find ur subject like insect amongst the whole plant..

It does take abit of skills to work with the lens.

But however... it is still one of the cheapest tele macro combo around already.

The 200mmf4 and PN11 cost really little.. ;)

anyone know what is the attachment that you need with the 105/4? I think it is the PN-1.

PN-11..It is made for the 105F4 macro to go from 1:2 to 1:1

The 105 itself has markings for it.

curious, is it worth it to get a 55mm Marco?

This is a very subjective question. Generally AIS lenses are all "worth it" since prices have dropped like crazy in recent years. Optically there are a lot of AIS lenses that are better than modern lenses and they feels better built. No, I dont own the 55mm Micro, and the only reason is that I have a couple of lenses at that range already, if I need macro, I'll use one of my longer macro lens. If I don't I might get one for the fun of it. But there are stories of oil in aperture blades on that lens, so just have to be careful when buying one used.

I hardly use the 55mm..

Depends on your usage and how far you intend to stand away.

For mostly plants and insects shots, a 105mm on a 1.5X crop seems just nice

But i ever recommended a plastic surgeon a 60mm as well..

Anyone has the nikon manual 24f3.5 Perspective Control here?

Considering importing one over from US. :)

Argh... just found one nikon 8mm f2.8 jellyfish lookalike and the 45f2.8 pancake lens for sale..

should i?

I heard jelly fish tastes better than pancakes...

:bsmilie:

Yah but the jellyfish cost 1.5K excluding shipping and tax...

Just receive news of a nikon 135F4 bellows and 58f1.4.. anyone here has tried them? :)

Nowadays people into AFS and all those auto everything lens lah. Good for us though.

Eh, what is this 58 f1.4? Nikkor ah? Closest I heard is the 58 f1.2 NOCT, which I first thought was expensive, then I see that a lot of people have the Leica Noctilux...

Yep the 58mm f1.4 is a nikon..

seems to be a very early lens... cheap though, less than $200...

I cant seem to find much data online about it, thats why posting here.. :)

I know 55 1.2, 58 1.2, but never heard about the 58mm 1.4, except for the Topcor 58mm f1.4 recreation made by Cosina. The one you mention is during AI/AIS time or before that? I will be in Tokyo tomorrow, and I will look out for it!

Yep just curious about it, i believe its NIPPON KOGAKU, pre Ai time lens, i doubt it will be fantastic... you tried the 500mmF8 mirror lens? i have one waiting for fedex to deliever to me soon. Got at a bargain but without the filters... should be about to focus without it perfectly right? :)

Wonder hows the 134f4 bellow... some say its does the 85F2.8 macro is able to at a very small fraction. mir claims less than a thousand of it were ever produced...
