F mount to EOS doesnt require it.

Its FD to EOS that requires and why i stayed away from FD mount lens.

Went window shopping today in Shanghai, and found a counter in a large photo shopping heaven, and saw a lot of lens-body adapters. Didn't bother asking since I only use Nikkors, but looks like you can match just about any lens to any body. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating, I doubt you can match a Leica rangefinder lens to a F mount.

Some of them are fundamentally impossible.

For eg canon lens to nikon mount. Due to EOS mount being larger than F mount.

Regular... non macro

Just wondering if it would actually be worth since tons of 70-200/80-200f2.8 are floating around..

Brian do you remember what the prices were like for the Nikon F mount to EOS adapters, both with the 'chip' and without the chip? the ones with the chip being the more expensive ones which have the AF confirmation.

Have got these (chip ones) from Ebay for around US$40 but I suspect they will be dirt cheap in HK or China.

Didn't check the price then. Went to check out a Nikon F to Mamiya adapter for a friend (which they don't have)

If its US$40 for adaptor with chip that is rather cheap alr..

Check with the MO guy in CS.. i think it goes for more than SGD100..

I'm in Tokyo this week and planning to get my hands on a used 200 f4 AIS (less than 6000yen?) since its dirt cheap. HOping to pair it with PN11 for a nice hiking macro lens. Will let you know about how the lens handles.

Tried it out for a weekend thanks to a fren of mine.

I wanted to shoot macro butts with it but the limitation was the 2m closest focusing distance and thus it wasn't good for my application.

At the tele usage part, it was pretty good at f8 - f11 range. Got some nice zoo pics in my flickr site to show. ;)

Pretty sharp lens..

except f4 is rather slow for a non macro prime lens...

Still, its cheap.. bout SGd75 only ;)

i will like to know more regarding manual lens and hope that some one can give me some advise on this>

recently saw and tested a few manual lens but found that nikon have Pre-AI, AI and Ais.
i know that Pre-Ai need to be modify to AIS mount before it can be used, but how about Ai. can Ai lens be mounted on Dslr body? some shop owner told me at Ai will spoilt the body mount but AIS is fine. is that true?

Most of this manuals are at least a few year old. most of the lens i tested have in some way dust or black particles inside the lens. but the picture i took when zoom in seem ok. will like to ask if the particles will ruin the picture in any way or will the dust or black particles cause the result to be inferior. will it cause decrease in resale value?

BS. Pre AI might damage parts of your DSLR as it needs to have certain areas filed, or else certain protruding parts of ur body might be damaged when you force it on.

However AI and AIs are pretty much the same.

Honestly take everything that the ppl in shops tell you with a pinch of salt. Because ultimately their main objective is only to earn your money, not be your information counter.

so you mean that AI and AIS have totally no problems when mounting to DSLR?

what about the small dust issuse?

Small amounts of dust no issue. My 35mm f1.4 has a lot of dust and scratches on the front and rear element but I'm still happy with the image quality.

Wont comment too much about the value of lens with dust. There are buyers out there that will ask for cheaper price even if you have one tiny little microscopic scratch on the lens barrel not affecting picture.

just wonder anyone try the Nikon 24mm f/2 AI-S before? any comment?
