Just to share-My own Sigma 12-24

Here's mine taken from a previous shoot some time back. Pic is straight from the cam and only resized but apologies for not resizing small enough. :p

sorry for a little OT here..
how do you compare this one to Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 HSM lens?
i'm looking forward to WA shoots and can't decide among Sigma 10-20, Sigma 12-24 & Tokina 12-24..
thanks :)

the sigma 10-20 cannot be use on FF. here the shots are compared with FF. if u use the 12-24 on your crop, you won;t have as much width so 10-20 is a better bet i guess(i have not use it before though)

Yes, 2mm difference on the wide end.

At the corner 5% of a picture done 12mm are really soft and CA-ed even when stepped to f22 for my copy. I have a feeling it is pretty uncorrectable even if i step down the aperture further, so nowadays if there is a defining edge of a structure that necessitates sharpness, i try to keep it out of the area.

My share of shots with the Sigma 12-24mm:

At 24mm

resurrection of the 12-24mm thread. Also wanted to find out if the below kind of shot is possible to replicate using pano - water reflection, long exposure, night scene.

Here are 2 shots i did, 3 shots panorama stitched near. not an exact replica of ur scene though, but long, exposures, some reflections. 1st shot done nightfall, second one done before dawn

very nice. The Merlion shot is awesome! All using 12-24 or other focal length.

Thanks. They were done stitched with other lenses. I thought u meant if wide panoramic shots in the dark with reflection was feasible compared to wide shots done with 12-24mm sigma.

You got me right. Just that I am trying to figure out how you do the Merlion

Think u exposed a bit too long already. The highlights are quite overblown.

Bro how much you bought your Sigma 12-24mm?

anyone with experience using rear gel filter on this lense?

I got mine used at nearly half price :bsmilie:

It is not the best timing to shoot, the DR range is too extreme. underexpose for highlights and u will not get much lighting in the rest of the buildings liao. probably shoot when the skies have abit more light left.

I have tried similar shots at ISO 100, f/11, 4 secs and tripod mount with cable release. Works just fine. :)
