Yes, there are some shops that can sell CR123 ~$0.80-$1 each piece. BTW which Surefire are you using? We'll discuss offline... I'm recently also hook on surefire stuff.i tried one of the this setup before.
you have to really get very near to the subject in order to see the 'ring' catchlights in their eyes.
fact is, it's good for macro, but not good enough for portraiture.
still, nothing beats a real ring flash.
cr 123 is the same battery as surefire torches which i have IIRC.
you can get these in sgp cheap.i get my batts from mustafa though parking is an a s s.
have fun with the new toy and share the pics with us!
Sorry to say that.....
For macro, it is not the more flash the merry......
If you want a even lighting, ring flash is cheaper and lighter, it still can produce the same result.
However, this setup is good for capturing flight shots.
i'm no expert in outdoor portraits, but wouldn't a SB-800 / 600 / 400 with a diffuser as a fill-in either mounted or remote have been sufficient for this job? not that i'm disagreeing that the results are pleasing... just would imagine that the big sell of this set up is in close-ups in macro or portraits.
have u tried weighing ur setup?
looks heavy..
scroll somewhere down... said:SX-1 master attachment ring accommodates up to eight SB-R200 Speedlights (off camera) and up to four (on camera).
I have a problem with this set up...
I can't find anyone that sell Rechargeable CR 123 battery In Indonesia...!! >_<

I remembered I read somewhere that the SX-1 holder is meant to take the weight of not more than 4 SB-R200s when mounted on camera.
Here it is.. http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/ProductDetail.page?pid=4803
There is a picture of a lady holding ( I think with 8 SBR200s ) attached to the SX-1 in the R1C1 manual :bsmilie:
