can u take a shot with fine details? I mean a soft toy is a good subject but not so up close. Rather like 4 x the distance away so that the hairs can be finer rather than so coarse. Thanks for the samples.

The noise looks as good as the D700, if not better.

The noise control is good!
Thanks for sharing. :)

ISO 6400!! omg... its like my ISO800 on 450D... hahaaa =PP $4k right smack in the economic recession... oh mannn... POISONNN!!

The body plus kit is 5.5k. I got the body only from 4100. Yea, the ISO 800 is like almost noiseless :)

Hi you mean that MS is selling body only? Are you one of them that pre order or just walk in? Do they have any stock left?:)

Wow, I am certainly impress with the noise control of this new toy of yours. Certainly have no hesitation of using it if the needs arise..... Only that I don't have this lovely 5D Mk II like you.
Guess I will have to wait a little longer... and hope in 6mths times the price would moderate out a bit to where I am comfortable with.
Can forsee this little wonder is gonna trigger a sale of 1.6x LF lenses and body in a near future.

Amazing noise control at ISO1600. ISO800 is totally noiseless to me.:thumbsup: Wish I have $5k+ to grab this baby home. :)

As far as I know, they are trying hard to fulfill pre-orders right now. But I think you can drop by and put yourself on the list if you wish and get in the queue as quantities are still limited right now. :dunno:

can someone try to take some test shots with shadows included in your shots? curious on how much detail in shadow can be captured and how is the noise performance in the shadow areas.
e.g. slight backlighting on portrait shots

It's available at Sitex, as evidenced by the flood of threads, CP and MS. I believe John also has some, but I don't think it's enough for everyone who wants one.

The ISO 6400 shot is sweet...such low noise. ISO 800 is almost noiseless. I'm pretty impressed.

Just came back from Sitex. Didn't see the 5D MII around. :dunno:

Can we request some shots of you very loveable stuffed tiger at ISO 6400/3200/1600 at say f/8 or f/11 aperture or even f/16?

It will be most useful at discerning the noise control and detail retention as compared to a shallow DOF whereby large areas are OOF, thus can really see the detail retention in the darker areas ?

Here are some shots taken at f/10. Didnt go higher as i wanted to minimize the effects of diffraction. No external noise reduction plug-ins were used. Just look at the ISO 50....Incredible!!!!

ISO 12800 is pretty good! That's usable for me (especially if it's gone through noise reduction softwares).

Love it...

:Later,

6400 is very poisonous...

So tempting.....Feel like getting one for my next week's taiwan trip..

Hey Picturefreak,

Thanks a lot!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Woww.. for most common printing sizes, the ISO 6400 requires little if not almost no additional work ! I'm terribly impressed !

The details at that level are truly amazing! I'm in awe!

Once again, thanks for sharing with everyone here... very, very good stuff!

But EXTREME BBB Virus !!

Hmmm seems like the color of the tiger is getting more dull as the ISO gets higher? But this can be fixed via PS tho. Nice shots.

Can kindly post jpegs of 12800 and 25600 converted from RAW?

NEWSFLASH!!

Singapore, 29 November 2008 - The BBB virus has reached epidemic level worldwide. The virus apparently started in September and spread like wildfire through the internet community. The CDC is still tracking its source and believed to come from images posted online. Right now, the CDC is working out a plan to isolate and eradicate this contagion. The public is advised to stay home, turn off their computers, avoid any camera shops and limit conversations with fellow CSers to one word a day.

Just came back from Sitex. Didn't see the 5D MII around. :dunno:

It's there (as of 28 Nov around noon), in a glass cabinet by itself! However, the HN folks did not want to take it out of the box until your have paid for it:thumbsd:
