for those interested in following the maintenance cost of the gtr, here goes...

my gtr is about 9k km now.(after...er...2-3 months of driving)

just changed transmission oil.
cost 1.6k including labour

front and rear diff oil about 300.

engine oil, about 230

Fuel consump:avg 5.5-6km/l.

full tank is roughly about $105-$110
mobil/esso 98

Thats a hefty sum, but proper maintenance is worth every bit.

I tot the recommended interval for tranny oil was 60k? If you dragged it, i guess it better be changed earlier. The price of tranny oil for the GTR is the one of the main cost towards the regular servicing bill. And, there is no substitute oil!

60k?no way.
nissan claims if your oil temp goes above 130k, you've got to change it immediately.
so far, didnt go track, so not too bad, but i thought get it changed at 10k, then subsequently every 10-15k i'll change it again.
there's many substitute like pentosin which is used for BMW M3, or willall racing trans oil but i rather stick to original just in case it has some 'special' ingredients.:bsmilie:

Yes, it has to do with oil temp. If you dont do track or street drag, it should be fine as the car has plenty of torque already. Tranny oil is something you dont want to have substitute. The gearbox will cost plenty to replace and earlier than normal intervals is safer than being sorry. For most of the cars i owned, i change my tranny and engine oil at half the recommended service intervals. It is not kia soo, but it does less harm to the car.

One thing about Singapore is, no matter how we drive, it is still city driving. Following the recommended service intervals for transmission oil change is not exactly the right thing to do in Singapore. This is one reason why many continental cars have their gearbox messed up when they hit 100k here. These vehicles are rated with a more liberal (longer) service intervals with a given ratio for highway and city driving. But in Singapore, it is almost 95% city driving. Even on the highway, we do stop and go during a jam.

Enjoy the ride. You will soon be addicted to the speed. You should go for the LP650 next. :bsmilie:

actually, i trust nissan's figures as mine is a jdm and not the us/euro export model.

please remember japan's traffic is 10x worse than sgp!:bsmilie:

lp650?or do you mean lp640 or lp670 superveloce?
wat if i tell you i already have a lambo in my stable but i still prefer the gtr?:bsmilie:

The maintainence service intervals for Japanese (and Korean) cars are probably calculated partially based on the bad traffic conditions in their cities. This is why people find Japanese cars have more reliable gearbox. The fact is, shorter than recommended service intervals is one of the best ways to extend the lifespan of car components. Some people think continental cars are tougher and they abused the car by delaying servicing. This is so wrong.

ahem.... yes, the LP650 is said to be the newer version of the 640

The 670 SV is more than a mad charging red bull. It's insane.

ahem... never doubt your toys collection... and its true: to some, the japanese sports makes offer a more fun and shorter learning curve for road handling than the european ones besides raw acceleration. (This is only my own experience, others may offer to disagree).
