Joy camera shop at funan, felt so cheated. But I don't know what to do.


Hi gecko365, I would advise you to add another friend when you go there...one who can help to restrain you and the other in case you unwittingly fall into their trap that u initmidate them first or provoke with words..remember the shop could have cctv.

Rem your objective is to get the camera and all the contents back first, then talk later if u want refund or a new set or some compensation.

If you have time today, check the biz registaton of the shop and you will find the names of the owner(s), demand to see him/them AFTER the camera is in your hands....otherwise you will be handling 4 issues...no camera despite paying for it, feel cheated bcos of wrong info given to you, demanding to see one in authority (owner) and lastly, tackling their bad attitude without you or your friends losing your heads and reasoning.

All the best. Be calm and remember your priorities in this issue.
 

eleveninth: shop say its sg set, Nikon say its export as the serial number cannot be trace.
ytd the guy raise his voice at me and my friend, tonite i go back i sure do that same thing.

and like the above comment. keep your cool. once you do same thing, chances are it will go down hill from there.
 

Snapdiner:They said its a local set. I took the serial number ytd outside the box and registered it online, the website and email from Nikon-sg says its a local set with warranty period.But it "USELESS" as Nikon said they need BOTH warranty card and original receipt for service.

Can ask you, which is which.. A while you say is local set, a while you say it is grey...
 

Thanks SnapDiner, i just called. The guy say his boss give me another set with warranty card. My friend going with me later, bringing laptop and sd to check shutter count.

All raise voice, the world is a better place?

Suggest you don't do things just to provoke the shop... Because they raise voice you raise voice, if they spit on the floor you spit also? My personal opinion on this is that there is no need to sink to their level.

all the best.. be firm but dun shout. once you shout it will end up a shouting match and it's unlikely that this can be solved. as a last resort, tell them you will go to small claims to obtain an order lor... wonder if it might make your job easier if you go when there are more people. and yes, bring more friends with you..
 

i think it served as a warning to many! Don be tempted by the savings of a niche amount n risk getting all these frustrations and worries...

Look at all the threads on the recommended shops and the price guide...i will onli compare price among these few reputable shops....its definitely not worth saving that little bit of money to buy from other shops that i have never heard of....i don even bother entering them to ask for quotes...
There is a reason why only these few shops are recommended and why some of the shops were never mentioned...

To TS...no point getting so worked up..even if its a grey set and the owner refuse to refund u...etc..and things don work out as what u initiated....stay calm...
Losing money is small....don get urself into bigger issues...

I guess they knew they had been caught red-handled this time. So they have no choice but to give you a new set.

Be polite to them but firm. Don't raise your voice.

First thing is to check the camera's serial number from your lap top.
If it is a grey set, reject it - because that is not what you want or paid for.

Ensure the warranty card is there and that it is a new copy.
Check the contents of the box and ensure nothing is missing or different.

Leave the shop and NEVER look back.

If they change a new set for u...warranty set i mean, without topping up any difference in price at $1550 with gst and same freebies.
Btw what bag did they issue? The previous promo is a Nikon Brace Bag and not the lousy Nikon rectangular pvc bag
I think they are the CHEAPEST in town.
Providing they change u a golden box version and not those kit that they remove the kit lens and sell to others for more profit.
This type of thing they also dare to do....please ask your friend bring laptop to check for shutter count

For all those who keeps thinking that CASE can help, you're so wrong. First you need to PAY for membership with CASE before you can even complain.

And CASE probably can't do much too.

Nope, it has been proven and reported many times in the national newspapers that Case goes out tooth and nail to help a hapless Caucasian tourist. So if you have an ang mo friend or co-worker, get them to help you out.

I called them ytd after afternoon around 2pm+ and ask about, they say give me new set with SG-warranty card.
Sunday was the D7000 body box.

Ytd Went to the shop around 7pm+ with friend, i check serial number print on the box-body and warranty card and all is the same number, check the contents too, and all is inside.

My friend bring laptop & sd card. I use my own lens to do the testing. Shutter count the 1st frame is 13, meaning thats its NEW body. Use opanda to check the count.

Free gifts are the normal 8gb sandisk card and the cheapo Nikon bag. I bought a vanguard-27 camera bag before but i sold it to my co-worker as its kinda small for me.

The new D7000 is inside the kit lens box, they remove the lens.

My friend is newbie to dslr, i told him to install software that i need.
Sunday he got a 2nd hand 60D with 18-135mm at a good price, from clubsnap. I went with him to buy and test.
