hmm i think your expectations too high :P
You may want to get a +4 close up filter, cost depending on brands. You will probably get some still macro shoots in pretty fine with it but bare in mind you will have to compensate it accordingly.

to me, to take macro shoots, nothing beats a fast macro lens anytime...imho

Can we put this thread as sticky?

Welcome to the Oly Family!! (hmmm...rythmes...:D)

for all the olympus camedia owners, may i know whether the LCD of ur cameras show red vertical lines when focusing on bright object or light source? mine has this problem and the Olympus Sg say it is normal for the digital camera. so i would like to know whether others have this problem too?

thanks a lot

My finder didn't cross enough.

Ekul1977, I don't have the Red Line...

I HAVE A RED COLUMN.

A Red Line that is 5mm wide!!! :dunno:

But you are right, after I save the pix and playback, can't see the Red Column. So I don't care lor. Anyway I seldom use the LCD unless taking nightshot. I know some people using the LCD to compose but I am newbie that don't even know what is "compose" so NVM lah! I notice that if I focus from further distance, the Red Column is lighter.

It is normal... very normal. Almost all digital camera will have it. It wont affect the picture at all so don't scard. =)

Are the red lines the AF assist light? Supposed to fire only when it is too dark ("paints" a pre-exposure pattern of red lighted bars on the subject for the AF to lock on)... but may also activate in some cases when cannot focus in bright light (my old EOS5 did this sometimes).

One thing I don't like about many digicams including my new 2100 is the EVF... too dark or too bright, it becomes overwhelmed and I'm forced to autobracket (waste batt juice) while "agaring" the framing. My old C1400 at least has a regular optical TTL. Why can't digicams have a mixed LCD/optical TTL viewfinder like most 35mm SLRs instead of adopting the inferior vid-cam type EVF?? Waste power some more... but I'm still berry happi with the 2100 :D

Can't be, the c-2040z don't have AF assist.....

The EVF on the c-2100uz is quite useable in most situations already....used the Fujifilm FinePiox 2800z b4....have difficulty seeing things even under normal indoors lighting...

Thank you every body for ur replies!! at least now i know that i am not the only one who encounter this " problem". since it is normal, then dont care liao.

another thing i found out about the camera is when in "macro" mode ( by pressing the flower button), the image shown in optical viewfinder does not seem to be at the right place, eg when taking shot of a watch using the optical view finder, the photo taken will end up with the watch on the border of the photo. but no prob when using the LCD. any notice this before?

Thank you again to everybody. people in this forum really help me a lot. :)

That shifting of image is called Parallax Error......that's becos the optical viewfinder is not pointed at exactly the position of the lens but more towards the upper left. Use the LCD to eliminate problem...the C-2100uz do not have this problem as the image seen in the EVF is what the lens 'sees'...

oh....icic.. so i think my camera is now near perfect liao. since all the problems are not really " problems" at all.:)

really like the full manual control of the camera. will try to explore more about it in the next few weeks. hope to be able to produce some good result to share with u all.

THANKS!! ;)

U r welcome. ;)

When taking movies with my C-2100, there are some additional noises recorded. Sounds more like the lens mechanism. Are there any way to suppress the noise?

No, since the clostest thing to the mike is the DC itself, ineveitably some very soft mechanical sound will be recorded.

But the sound from the lens should be minimal even if u r zooming. Don't be bothered too much abt it....;)

can anybody advise on difference between macro lens and +4 filter? I know they both serve to improve the macro capabilities. Thanks
