There is one good explanation on that ..
The C2100 is not one that friendly as camera ,due the large size , so the most people that they have take the decision to live with one camera like this one , they know very well why they got it , and what it does .
The C700 for marketing reasons is called as small one or pocket one , and it is not .
It is also one big camera , just a bit smaller than the C2100 .

What happens most of the times ,with the people that they get the C2100 , is that they buy also another one smaller DC ,as one more compact solution , but they never give away the C2100 top dog ;)

Well said, Syncmaster........ :D

We know what we get...and we luv it!!!!!

Hey Jayan, was wondering, if you could lead your Olympus Army and get some REVIEWS up on the Olympus weapons and accessories you guys have.

Thanks.

Thanks, but I was using a SLR before - and I can't do much with the C200 - no manual controls. Have been considering the 3040/4040 or C720Z.

Hi. Well, I've been visiting ClubSNAP for a couple of weeks now, but sort of missed this thread in the past. :embrass: Anyway, I am currently still using my good ole trusty Olympus C-2000 Zoom, though I'm planning to get an UZi once I go over to USA next month. Anyway, best regards to all "Olympians" here. :)

U may have problem finding the 3040z....it's discontinued and superseded by the 4040z.

Erm......think I saw in dpreview.com that most 'white-market' C-2100UZ in the USA have been snapped up....what's left are mostly 'grey-market' stuffs.

Hmm... But if you do a search on eBay, you will find that there are quite a number of C-2100UZ units on sale, mostly from the same eBay retailer. According to their product info, these are new refurbished sets with a 90-day warranty from Olympus and not grey market items. Any idea whether these are legitimate? I'm actually thinking of getting one of these from eBay and picking it up while I'm over there.

In any case, never say never... hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on one somehow (by hook or by crook!). :)

did u try AP at SLS?

They always seems to have stock for he C2100 but I have not been there for a few weeks liao.

Me another proud owner of Olympus C2040, add me to the list too :) Got it few months ago.

By the way, is this model requires any must-have or good-to-have accessories, which is not came with the box? Such as a filter to protect the len? Need advices from all the experts here ;)

Many of us who own cameras in the C-x0x0 line attach the Olympus CLA-1 41mm-43mm adaptor tube and a UV filter at all times to protect the rather fragile zoom lens. I personally use a 43mm UV filter that matches the thread size of the CLA-1 adaptor on my C-2000.

Another not-so-critical but "good to have" accessory is of course a polarising filter. I have a 43mm Hoya polariser that goes right over my UV filter when I need it. This setup produces no vignetting even at the wide end of the lens zoom range.

If you're itching to extend your camera's focal length range, many people on the Net recommend getting either the Olympus A200 and B300 teleconverters because of their excellent image quality and negligible light loss. However, these items are getting very hard to find nowadays.

Other than that, don't forget the usual photography accessories like tripod, lens brush + cloth, etc. In the end, it depends mostly on your own photography style. Find out what limits you continually encounter in your shooting, and investigate what can be done to overcome them.

I bought it from AP at $980 for the cam alone... plus a few other stuff like UV filter, rechargeable batteries, 128MB SM, bag... total $1200+...

I have checked with CP and a few other shops before finding it in AP... seems like most shops are not intending to buy in any more stock of this cam...
