haha, and if you go and count properly, I believe it is also not only 1 complaint per page, it was just an illustration. What I meant is that all it takes is 1 complaint per page to make Redname's statement correct. I wasn't actually stating any statistical facts.

Similarly, I can also safely say that there are 12 pages of praise for John3:16's service.

It works both ways, just whether you want to say that the glass is half empty or half full. :bsmilie:
In this case, my estimation is more of 80/20 on the side of complement vs complaint in this thread.

Anyway, I am not even a regular in J3:16. I agreed that complaints is good as long as the management can improve on them and eventually others will benefit from the improve service.

Not here to count positive posts and negative ones. Better spend the time to do more shoot especially there is so much to shoot around Orchard Road during this time of the year. :)

hai.. ya, but i really hate crowds. I just feel like driving to orchard at 3am in the morning so I can shoot the decorations in peace.

Anyway, I've been to Funan rather often recently. I've been there the past 3 days straight. When I walk by J3:16, I'd peep in to see how many people are in there today. Not very crowded these days. Just 4 or 5 customers, which is like half of it's usual crowd. Mostly ang mohs. I bet ang mohs are drawn to them because of their name. Maybe it's not so bad to be religiously linked after all.

wld prefer to leave religion out of discussion

haha, okok. nothing philosophically implied. I just meant that they come to Funan wanting to buy camera equipment, and they're given a host of options. All the names are foreign to them, and assuming they haven't done their homework on CS forums. They'll have so many to choose from.

But John3:16's name will stand out. Why? Because they find a sense of familiarity in all that foreign-ness. Compared to Alan Photo, Song Brothers, Bally Photo etc., they'll look at John3:16 and say "Hey! I know that phrase!"

So aside from the fact that the name is spurned from Christian roots, I'm just saying that it's fantastic branding, whether it's intentional or accidental. Some brands will take decades to establish itself. But "John 3:16" has been exposed to all Christians for the past 2000 years.

never went to John 3:16 before becos I could not find their location whenever I wanted to get sth. Btw, heard from frens if you can not make up your mind, then just get the body first. If want to get the kit lens, you actually can come back another time to get at the same price for kit. I am really impressed to hear that!

I am sharing this becos I just got a body from SLR Revolution. Quite impressed with their service too, for the thing that I never wanted to go inside any camera shop without feeling being given a hard selling.
However, when I returned to SLR get the kit lens since I cannot decide what lens to purchase, they said they can only sell me with top up 100 bucks. LOL. Now I am really shaky about this shop. I was about to write a compliment for them here, but then really turned off with this. :bheart:.

NVM. An experience. I guess I would love to join John 3:16's queue for a change.

from the way i look at this. it's SLR who's doing the right thing cause they are selling u a lens by its own and not from a package. the lens' price might be different from a package price.

i might be wrg here also. the only way to verify is whether it comes with a golden box or white box (assuming ur's is nikon ;))

Don't think most shop is able to change for a body to a kit at the same price unless you pay far more just for the body price. And what will happen to the body that you exchange for? (sold to another customer?)
I think they're just asking you to top up the difference for the lens price.

Btw, I bought things from SLR before, their receipt stated Goods are not returnable. They don't even allow you to try the camera, don talk abt exchanging.

I agree with you here. the reason J316 is able to do so is because they help customers who buy kit set sell off the lens. In that way, the original customer saves some money (price for kit set minus price of lens sold can be cheaper than price of body only set or it could be that he already has the kit lens), and the customer who want to buy the kit lens ends up happy.

this is the kind of extra service J316 provides that makes it crowded all the time. :)

SLR is not at fault here. IMHO, they just treat each customer on a transactional basis. :)

It is SLR Revolution's bad luck to encounter a customer like you.

right. That is fair. I know that. but the point I am bringing up here is about John3:16's service. LOL. they are able to let you top up for the kit lens.

yeah. haha...

just to clarify, I did not ask them to sell after they refused. I am just going to get a lens on my own.

No idea how John 316 does that. They not necessary get the lens from the kit. they can just order spare from canon and are able to give you at that price.

Ok. I am off.

i hate to say this but aft hearing this kind of thing, it really makes me wonder whether J316 is honest. no doubt it was well-meant and everyone's happy but it's still kind of under table isn't it?

kind of like my tamron warranty issue i posted earlier

before I am off *don't like argument recently*, would you mind elaborating more why it is their bad luck? did they lose anything?

ohh, and they promised to get the bag the next day, but now end of the week already no bag yet.
