Wah bro, so fast your trip finished ? I thought it was like last week you asked about the Shanghai skyline photo :bsmilie:

I like the "Qian Dao hu. Thousand Island lake" photo. Life reflected off that lake is so special. And you managed to get the right mood.

I also like the cable car photo (#5). The clouds are fantastic and the wide angle put to good use

I haven't been to Huangshan, but since the sun's path changes between summer and winter, you could've planned the walk between the different peaks taking the direction of sun's movement into account. Just a suggestion.

Beggars at night, can be a menace in Shanghai. They come after you like crazy. My friend and I have had to literally run away from them while strolling on Huaihai road, even close to midnight.

yup. came back last week. Beggars are EVERYWHERE in Jiangnan. My trip is with tour package so the route on Huangshan is fixed. Still, I find taking photos in Huangshan tough as it is so CROWDED and very rushed on tour.

nope. Never caught sunrise too. a good reason to go a third time :) maybe next time will go F&E and stay for one week

Haha I remembered they have some kind of "sunrise probability rating", less than a certain percentage and they say it is not worth the early morning trek to see the sunrise (if there is any to be seen).

To me, being able to see the "yun hai" probably makes it worth the 3rd trip there, if can "book" the dates for the "yun hai" to appear. ;)

In all seriousness, it takes quite a right mix of the weather elements and a little bit of luck too. Winter may be a good time to go but it can get REALLY misty. And by really, it is like, so much so that you cannot see anything in front of you, more than 10 metres (couldn't even see the face of the mountain which I loosely recollect as the one where it echos back, supposedly quite, so-called, near).

But then again, it was also during my trip there in Winter (early Dec) that I saw the "yun hai". So although some of the peaks were obscured by the heavy fog and lingering mists, the "yun hai" view more than made up for it.

Somehow, when we went right to the 2nd highest peak, the skies above us cleared up and the clouds came down below us. Lol, ok not that dramatic but yeah, that's was how it eventually ended up. :)

Hope you get to see it the next time you go there (and the sunrise too) :)

Should any of you plan a free & easy to Huangshan, pls let me know! Who love to spend 4-7 days there to see the yun hai, sunrise & sunset!

Was told that Dec and Jan are less crowded..... anyone for Jan 08?

4-7 days if huangshan only......abit too heong. Winter confirmed less ppl. Winter will be difficult if got snow fall. If you don't have proper shoes to grip the harden snow.....gd luck to you. Can free slip down the slop and bye bye. Somemore the winter wind no joke.

if you wanna trek can go up huangshan thru the 梦幻景区 route. it is a longer route up.....will take around 7hrs compare to 2hrs + if you go through the normal hiking route (@ 700m sea level).

After i went up the normal route.......i went down a bit to the 梦幻景区 side. Very nice, most of the pictures in Huangshan I took were at 梦幻景区 . Heard that last time there is like 20 students who went up the route before it is opened up. Then most of the students became couple after the trip.

There are 2 main peaks (not guang ming ding) in Huangshan. At any one time only one will be opened. The peaks are rotated every 5 yrs if I remember correctly.

The "yun hai" there will spectacular you when you see it. You can literally see the clouds "flowing" (although they are really quite stationary) because of the various undulating peaks in the whole mountain reserve. To help in the imagination, it is basically an a-la Jiuzhaigou's Pearl Waterfall, only that this time, it is played out in the sky with the clouds.

Agree. Think spend about 2 nights there will be more than enough (may not see everything but even with such splendour, an overdose may leave a less than delectable experience due to diminishing marginal utility).

Also agree that as a general advice for those going during the colder seasons, get shoes that have good grip soles. Even if it doesn't snow, the low temperatures will cause a thin layer of ice to form on the ground and it gets extremely, extremely slippery.

Just like walking on ice (which is, coincidentally, the truth of the matter here :bsmilie: ).

Ok back to enjoying the photos in this series :)

Any more photos to share? Looking forward to them. ;)

a very scenic shot. but there is slight tilt/distortion as can be seen by the buildings and their reflections.

u went on package tour? Which agency? I went with chanbrothers... the food and hotel both are really quite bad.... but the price is cheap. I think like $9xx for 8 nights of hotel stay.

yup you are right. There is a slight distortion. Fixed it and reuploaded the file.

I went on package tour with CTC ($7xx for 8 days), but my package covered Su Zhou, Hang Zhou, Nan Jing, Wu Xi and Shanghai. I didn't go Huangshan.

the pics in huangshan are pretty good. u need quite some luck when taking photos in huangshan. guess u didnt have all the luck, but at least it wasn't too bad either. we are still impressed.

Very feeling additions of shanghai streets—17 and 18.

Especially if you been to China cities like Shanghai, the photos provide an emotive transport back to the Chinese streets. :)

thanks for the comments. I reuplaoded all the pics and added a dash of sharpening.

Does it look to sharp now?
