this post is divided into two parts(do feel free to pick a fight with me :) )
.....we can all debate and argue back and forth (lets be honest to ourselves,we are arguing) but the fact is the photo looks cheap.... the only saving grace is that the over exposed effect gave it a slight fashiony /ring flash effect.. but still... on first look man.... the pose is pretty bad... i mean... what is she? an animal? she's on all fours.... and then her wardrobe(or lack of it), and her expression, and finally herself.
all this leads to one word.... SEX...
i mean if you had the luxury to choose a model and wardrobe you could have started there, find a model with a classier look if you wanted the classy sensual look...

this model looks edgy/gritty....pull it the wrong way... you've got a hotel 81 ad gone wrong.

this is what i have to say if you wanted to make a classy photo or a creative expression..
------------------------------------------------------------------------
but this is what i have to say(constructive) if you want to make a heart pumping/ sexy picture.

the model have a suitable face, and the lingerie is appropriate, the locale is pretty stimulating too..carpeted stairs...mmm kinky!

things like the red nail polish is cool...but not with that lingerie she was wearing.... and the pose is not right....
we see her arms and boobs and thats cool( in terms of dirty photograhpy)
but i dont see her ass man! and her lower body seems to be a mangled mess
visually speaking..
and what is she doing man?...she seems to be in suspension... is she getting up? or is she going down? what?... her fingers are all wrong too... gotta watch that.. and i can only see one toe... now thats weird..
the hair is pretty cool..but could be tidier.

the body skin tone is actually pretty cool.. its over exposed yeah but in a cool way with enough shadow to look cool.. like ring flash!
but the face is just totally burnt man...

you were using a flash head yeah camera mounted?

1) Pose by Lisa (make up artist) :-)
2) ISO set to 1600 by accident actually but I thought the effect was pretty cool.

With a pose like that, little wonder why u forgotten to check you ISO settings.. :bsmilie:

Thanks Zigs. Your comments appreciated.

I wasn't using camera flash but 500W studio flash.

Digitalbuff, agree with you totally. I sometimes, actually, lots of times, feel that this island is the last bastion of Victorian England, with the puritians still running wild among us.

Very deep english. I don't get this response but enjoyed the way it sounds.

1..point here is: be sensitive. For you do not know who is viewing your port folio online.

...Think about it. Ladies, like we men, have their dignity too and ought to be treated with respect even in the form of a photograph...

...I’m sure the moderators in Club Snap would at least agree with me on this point.

dun wish to start any war here though, there, you said it yourself "be sensitive", so shouldn u be a bit more sensitive too? mind u, the lady might be surfing cs too..

the mods "might" agree with u on perhaps e pic is not the portray in the right way, but i'm quite confident that the mods will not agree with u on commenting that lady.

If wanna have a foxy & catlike pose, then i think you are going to the wrong direction, interms of lighting the subject and posing JL............

read more books on photography, and follow some experts to shoot commercial.

Gentlemen,

lets not have this get out of hand. I am sure we all have our views on how this picture has turned out but i do not believe name calling and comments abt the model is warrented in anyway...

Thank you.

guys, digitalbuff uploaded a pic for constructive comments, not for us to lambast and criticise negatively his model or even his skills. To some, he may have gotten his model to pose "wrongly", but hey, who hasnt? Are we that certain that we always pose our models in the right manner? At least he dare to share with us his pic for constructive comments, not destructive.

So, let's all cool down. If you feel the model is too 'hot', then just say it in a nice manner..no need to give remarks which mean to hurt either the model or the photographer.

if u dont like the pic, u may shut up or dont say a word. personally, the pic looks ok to me, nothing wrong... meant to learn.

:) peace~

i beg to disagree a little ... the purpose of posting the picture in a public forum is to collect views from all sides, and not just collecting praises. :)

IMHO the picture borders on my acceptance of what is a tastefully done portraiture of a lady in lingerie and what is not. i have to disappoint the photog by saying that it tends to be the latter. That is my view. cheers.

Agree strongly with Digitalbluff

Constructive comments = praises only?

If thats the case, then i reply: was there anything good to comments?

constructive comments /= praises only

good or bad comment are ok, but when e comment is direct at name callings, it is not constructive anymore. how would u like if someone had called u (insert whatever word u want), is that constructive?

geezh... i'm outta here...

me too...................... ;)

last one: when shooting a fox or cat, you need to understand them, their habit, how they sleep, how they interact with each other etc, then you can capture good pics of them. Same as sports, if you don't understand ruby, you will sure unable to capture the moments.......( CONSTRUCTIVE ENOUGH???) :what:

Hi all,

I'm a new guy to photo taking. As a beginner, I don't really find anything interesting about this photo. Can elaborate why this photo is nice???

Thanks to those who offered their comments.

I am closing the thread. Think i have learnt from this thread. Time to move on to other pictures and other lesson.
