Would appreaciate a reply from anyone out there...Thank you

Actually. I wanted to get a handy cam for my GF's birthday & she seems particularly interested in IXUS 75 due to the designs. So I was thinking if I can get a good price somewhere...would appreciate if someone could help :) Thx

There is a UOB credit card promotion for the IXUS 75 at all authorised dealer. Pay using your UOB card and get a second additional battery free.

Saw this in my credit card bill :)

I tried the Z5fd, the noise level is no where near the f31fd/f40 and IMHO is worst den the ixus 850 that I own.

hi guys, im looking for the ixus 75 as well. im looking for one urgently as im leaving for a backpacking trip soon

where can i get a good deal from?

ive got a deal from a shop thats giving me the deal at 550, on top of that a 3rd party batt, a camera case and a screen protector.

should i go to the more reputable shops and will i get a better deal from them?

Sorry guys...
I know there are many 'better' camera out there. However, for girls, the function may not be the most important thing in their selection. She likes the designz which I specifically asking if anywhere can get the best deal.

CanonEOS,
Thankx for ur info... :) I will try looking for the authorised dealer. But me no UOB Credit card... haiz...see how lah...

Try John316, go in the afternoon.
I think Ixus 70 is a better choice.

Yah, actually I was considering the 70 as well... But GF liked the big LCD on the 75.

John316 good price? Maybe get my friend to go there and check out..
But I did check the canon website, dont see John316 address in there?

I bought my ixus 70 at $435 at TK photo last week. Got the free gift as advertised by canon. Think it has a memory card, cleaning kit, mini tripod etc.

Unless image stabilisation is very important, I think you should go for the Ixus 75 for your gf. The Ixus75 is quite compact and the 3" LCD is very generous!

i've recently got the Ixus950. The size is slightly plump, but my value for Image stabilisation is higher, thus i went for the Ixus950 instead of Ixus 75.

Recently was choosing between an ixus 70 or ixus 75 for my mum as she was going on holiday. In the end, chose the ixus 70 because of the optical viewfinder, when the battery is low, at least she still can turn off the LCD display and take pictures using the viewfinder. It's going to be sort of a hit and miss on the ixus 75.

Also, between 2.5" and 3.0", there's isn't really a significant difference. Both have exactly the same number of pixels, 230,000. Which means that pixels on the IXUS 75 are simply just bigger. Your pictures are definitely going to look sharper on the IXUS 70. Both cameras uses the same NB-4L battery too, which means the IXUS 75 is probably going to have a higher drain on the battery. My mum who's on holiday now, says one charge will last around 220~250 shots.

Just some of my thoughts on the 2 cameras.

Same consideration for me.
How much do you get your 950 for and where?

Is it very plump to the point of uncomfortable when you put it in your pant pocket, with your handphone as well?

Can't you do this with all Ixus cameras? My first Ixus was the Ixus 500 but I am currently using the ixus 900Ti. You can switch off the display for both models.

You are missing the point. You can switch off the display on all the camera. But how are you going to take pictures on the IXUS 75 if you switch off the screen? The IXUS 75 don't have that little peep-hole they claim as a viewfinder where you can put your eye thru.

The Ixus 75 does not have the viewfinder? Man.. I did NOT know that. :embrass: Seems kind of strange for a camera to be without a viewfinder.
