I sent in on Friday and they SMS me on the following Tuesday. So probably takes them about 2 working days. But I wouldn't say that it's resolved as the bubbles are still visible on the silver ring in the optical view finder, just probably lesser in number...
strange that there isn't any indicator
My frind is using Ixus 50 (I think so). It does not have the bat indicater too. Maybe Canon does not include Bat indicater function for all the Ixus range.
By the way, Im planning to get one 850IS. Not sure should I get it before CNY or wait for the IT show in March or Canan Anniversary?

It's rated power is actually less than the Canon original but it's a lot cheaper and so far no probs so i'm not complaining.
I know this is about 3 wks after you posted the question. My experience is that prices in Japan is cheaper, about 15% cheaper when I last compared the Ixus 500 some time ago.
A friend I met on that Japan trip, who worked for Canon Australia, was rather upset that his staff buy price for the Ixus 500 was higher (abt 20-30AUD, from memory) than the big Tokyo camera shop we visited.
From my experience, Canon gives 6 months full international warranty for their Ixus range (and perhaps their entire consumer and prosumer ranges) outside the country of sale. Assuming there is a service centre in the country you want to make a claim. Check with the retailer about procedure for registration and claim.
What is the brand of the SD card, compatible battery & camera case that bundled with this camera? Is it possible to snap a picture on these items? Since bargain city offered quite a good price and package, I feel like gettingthe 850IS.
They gave a KINGSTON 1GB and 2GB SD card.
Compatible battery is brandless, but MADE IN JAPAN.
SD card reader is like thumbdrive, long type.
Camera case I upgraded to the original IXUS case, toped up $10 for it.

they are the normal speed SD cards (blue in color)
they are giving 1x 2GB and 1x 1GB, total 2pces of SD card.
the 1gb that they giving is from canon...2gb is from their company...hope that answers your last question
