fyi guys...i found the cheapest ixus 850 at sim lim sq....
Song Brothers selling only $639 inclusive of GST. But heard from the forum that they are blacklisted coz of some reasons.... but it's the cheapest that i can find in singapore...

Hmm, My cousin just bought his 850 for $645 at Song. Initially another guy quoted him $650 and was very arrogant, not wanting to give him a better deal. After withdrawing money, we were attended by another sales guy who was a lot friendlier. Overall I prefer the service at MS Color over Song. Haven't read those posts about Song being black listed, will read them soon. :)

PS, no free stuff, other than the standard Canon deal. Later he tried to sell my cousin a spare battery for $35. Not sure if the OEM batteries Song is carrying are any good....

BTW this was at Funan

wat will be the main difference between 850IS and panasonic FX-50 ?
they both have wide angle lens

can try both and see which one you like. for specifications, you can check out the manufacturers' website or places like www.dpreview.com I've seen the output from the 850 IS and like it much.

folks, how long does your 850IS batt last after a full charge?

firend's one last a couple of weeks of casual shooting.

From dpreview: "The SD 700 IS was an easy 'Highly Recommended', this one doesn't quite make the grade simply because here at dpreview we put a lot of weight on image quality, which is the one area where the SD 800 IS can't compete with the older model."

Think I'll stick to my SD700 IS for now.. ;)

agree la... at least the camera is working and the viewfinder is working too, just that since it is brand new( like u said), of course I would wan the problem to be fixed..if all else fail, still has Canon warranty.......keke

Hi,

Realised that my camera also have the same prob. Did you managed to get it changed? Thanks...

I had both, lost my 800 IS, after some search and consideration, decided to get the 850 IS. I actually didn't quite agree with the dpreview comment on image quality. It may be true if we put both camera on tripod, shoot a comparison chart, measure purple fringing, sharpness etc....

However, due to the fact of much more verstatile and cleaner image of 850 IS at 200/400, I find the image I get from 850 are in general much better then from the 800 IS. And the wide angle, face detection, overall it's a more complete camera that produce better daily point and shoot then the 800 IS.

However, if I still own a 800 IS today, I may not change too. Too big a lost financially for a slightly better and nicer camera.

haha.. if i had the 850 IS, i'd also say that it produces "much better" pics... =)
Think i'll just keep faith in the reviews I read for the time being...

Hi guys,

I am interested in the IXS850 too. Anyone know if it would be cheaper to get it in Japan? May I know if the 1GB SD card is a standard item that come with the purchase or is it sort of a free gift?

Japan? Warranty how? Not sure if it's truly international.

Hm....would be in japan over a year so i guess warranty would not really be an issue :)

Think it is probably normal cos mine is also like that new straight from the box. Seems to be some crystalline deposit, maybe Canon is trying something new here -moisture absorbent crystals? :D

Just got the camera back from the Canon Service center...

The technician stated that the optical view finder was dirty and they have cleaned it. It does look slightly better, ie less bubbles. But overall small bubbles can still be seen around the silver metal ring.

There seem to be some shop selling it at below $600. Is it alrite to get from them cos there are people saying should get from shop like MScolor, AP etc....

Really? Can you share the information on the shop name please? Are the prices inclusive of GST? Could there be parallel imports with no warranty at all?

My colleague called up the reputable shops found in CS. Price range is $645-$660 with 1 gig SD Card. Some shops offers an extra freebies pack.

I am considering buying an IXUS 850 tomorrow and am also considering the G7. My old camera is the SONY DSCT1 about 5 years old now and its really a choice of buying a new battery for that or upgrading the camera.
What is the latest price for the G7 and the 850? and which one would you recommend?
What are they bundled with? 2Gb card, case, tripod, screen protector?

Thanks

I went down to one of the shopping mall at china town. Not sure if is people park or pearl center. Just remember is the building at the cross junction. Quite a few shop there quoted at $600. They say include GST leh. But some shop dun offer the 1Gb memory. there is this shop that quoted me a very low price. But then i did not know the pricing so I did not buy. Then when i go down again...the pricing went up......

Any one got price for 850. jus quoted by AP 615 + 1 G......
