WOW... The perfect camera - and outfit that befits National Day celebration. If you had brought it to the parade or rehearsals, would have distracted quite a crowd...

I just checked the white version at Audio House today...

surfs,

How much did you pay for your handsome Leitz lens?

Their express courier charges are not expensive as compared to those of other online shops like B&H. And they are really fast.
But the silver kit lens so expensive still got takers !

I agreed with you on the courier charge!

Yup I took the kit lens. I calculated that it will be about 20% more expensive than local price already (by calculating their EP-1 set VS local set).

After resisting the urge and temptation for a while, I finally took out my wallet and got myself the E-P1 w/17mm lens. I also got the MMF-1 adaptor so that I can use it with my 4/3 25mm pancake lens. The camera handles well, and more importantly, the image quality is among the best up there. Some of my colleagues who handled the camera were amazed at the speed and the lack of a shutter-lag compared to their PnS.

And for those who have been reading on-line reviews and bemoans the 'horribly slow auto-focus'.... Take it from me that the E-P1 auto-focus is NOT slow. It is definitely quick enough to 'get the shot', even in a so-called 'low light' situation in a restuarant.

The DPreview comment of 'The head says no, the heart says go.' is so so true. I already have the E-3 for 'serious' stuff and the E-620 to carry around, there is no reason to get another camera to incur the 'wrath and fury' of my CEO but alas, there is something about the E-P1 that is just so appealing... One just have to have it!

My E-620 will soon be on buy/sell when I get the chance.... ;)

Actually I wanted silver but came across a white one for good price so took it.
Then wanted the leatherette but black and the grip's beige don't really match, so decided to dye the aki akashi leatherette red....haha national day never even came into my mind....
Hopefully color stays....

It's an old lens from my Leica CL set.......I think I got whole set with the 40/f2 and 90mm for slightly over a 1000 4-5 years ago...

Hi everyone,

I paid for my E-P1 with a Uob One card and also signed up for E-Club.

However, when I went to Olympus Studio yesterday, I was told only can redeem 1 battery.

Did any of the people here manage to get 2 batteries or is it really true that only either the Uob card promo or the E-Club promo is valid per purchase?

Thanks people.

I only got 1 battery. Including the one that came with the E-P1, that's 2 batteries.

Do you guys reckon that there'll be new stock before the E-P1 successor comes? Or is everyone going to ditch waiting for the E-P1 and just wait for the successor...which according to fourthirdrumours, is in 2 months time. (and it's an FT4!)

http://43rumors.com/ft4-new-microfourthirds-olympus-camera-in-october/

That is a follow up model to GH1. E-P1 successor is rumored to be only coming in December, shipping in early 2010. (an FT3 news... ha ha ha...)

huh? did u read the link i posted? coz it reads new micro four thirds by OLYMPUS in OCTOBER.

FT-4 says probably, from trusted source, they could be wrong for all we know,at the moment,I'd rather believe what Olympus has said and that is Dec

I'm patiently waiting for staff pricing.
Just found out a church mate's in the sales dept of Oly. ;)

Sorry to hear this. Hope someone in the retailing side can taken an order for you and bring that in soon.

I share your frustrations. Harvey Norman pacified me by getting Olympus to loan me a white dual lens kit, supposedly their showroom set. gave me extra memory card and 2 filters. But the longer i hold on to the set, the more unsettled i feel. the 'loan set' had no terms and conditions. I fear what will happen if something happens to it. Too busy to bug Harvey Norman for now. I am still very pissed off by HN's 'pre-order' drive. Its obviously not supported by Olympus, or the logistics is really lacking. 1 mth since i paid for my set and practically i haven't gotten anything yet. Been fiddling with it with the settings and the thought of needing to re-do all the settings when my own set comes is such a turn off. First timer with Olympus and it has been a rough ride so far. I dun think its only HN's fault but looks like Olympus side has some issues as well. Pre-orders shd not be allowed by merchants if they can't deliver.

i spend about 20mins calling about 90% of the numbers in http://home.olympusimage.com.sg/contactus/authorised_retailers.asp this afternoon but none of them have stock for dual kit (white version)...this is getting a little frustrating.

This is my first time with Olympus too. I wonder why the supply is so low when there is a high demand for the E-P1. None of the shops are able to give me an exact date to when the stocks will arrive except Courts. They told me on the phone "stocks will arrive end of the month", but i'm not too sure if they are certain. I think I will call them again sometime next week.

Actually there are a few more shops in the list that i can call. but i'm not sure if i would want to buy from Bally, Song Brothers and AP...

For once, sales are better than expected, and being Singapore, a small market, we don't really appear on the priority list of any countries. US, then Japan, then Europe, then China, even in Asia, we are bumped down the list... Olympus has been working very hard so far to get that many units into Singapore already... not to mentioned retailers who "look down" on Olympus and their purchasers who don't really order and stock a lot of Olympus products. These contributes to the "low supply". This happens to many products in Singapore. That is why some people actually end up buying from overseas / online retailers in the end. Metz is one such good case. They don't sell well, distributor pack up, and everyone is left hanging.
