....we are bumped down the list... Olympus has been working very hard so far to get that many units into Singapore already... not to mentioned retailers who "look down" on Olympus and their purchasers who don't really order and stock a lot of Olympus products. These contributes to the "low supply". This happens to many products in Singapore. That is why some people actually end up buying from overseas / online retailers in the end

No lah... no more "Han Solo" work to hurt local retailers' sales. Though when I move back to China next year, I might be supplying accessories to Singapore... like cheaper m43 and 4/3 adapters, flash brackets, etc. How that sound?? Ha ha ha... tempting bo...?

Local retailers also will be affected by overseas purchase la, with or w/o Han Solo. As long as prices not attractive, there's always options. Not juz for cams, all other electronics as well like handphones, laptops, watches, etc. How about becoming Robin Hood instead? Poor consumers get to benefit. :bsmilie::bsmilie::blah:

Accessories shud be fun, can do other brands as well :vhappy:

Update on E-P1 stock availability :

According to "almost official" sources, the next shipment should arrive in Singapore in the first week of September, or early second week of September. Do give a call to your favourite retailer or the usual retailers that regularly stock Olympus products like MS Color, Alan Photo, Cathay Photo, TK Photo, Courts, Audio House, Harvey Norman, etc... and place your order with them. And remind them in case they forget.

But we all know by now, with logistics, ships can suffer "flat tire" and arrive in port late, warehousing issues, etc... anything can go wrong, so this is just a rough gauge according to "almost official" sources. At least you know you don't have to wait until October... :bsmilie:

my E-P1 with more than two decade old Canon FD 28mm f/2.8 manual focus lens....

huh microcosm just posted 2 post above yours, did you read?

I think he was referring to the cases and not the camera itself. Microcosm's post was on an update on the camera itself.

Thanks for clarifying! Yes, I already have the camera. We love it! all we need now is a carrying case for it!

Just bite the bullet & brought a Silver E-P1 @ Court Megastore @ Tampines today, heard from the SE that there is still 3 more sets avail (Body & 14-42mm Zoom Len Kit).

ah sorry for the confusion. I am confused by the word "case" as I refer it as "casing".

The zoom lens kit is selling for RM 2999 in Malaysia. Seems like $200 bucks cheaper than the RRP in Spore.

Any one uses 3rd party battery on the E-P1?
There's a I-Discovery brand selling for $38 in a Funan shop.

I wouldn't touch it... yet. Too many funky things have happened in the last two years with third party batts. But I (really wish) might be wrong.

wat sort of things?
I've used 3rd parties battery (mainly CameraQuest) on Canon / Sony / Panny... Is there anything special about the Olympus?

If I remember correctly, there is a controller chip on the Olympus battery, but I cannot remember for my life, whether they are to control initial output surge (when batt is fully charged to prevent frying the circuits so as to prolong life of camera) or was it to prevent over charging.

microcosm, any more concrete news of the sept shipments? =P

Bought the I-discovery battery available from SEAsia Computer shop in Funan.

The battery can't even fit into the E-P1 !!!! And I thrown away the receipt so can't ask for refund. Sh*t!!!!

Don't buy the i-discovery battery!!!

Now... anyone can loan or lent me a battery for the E-P1 for a couple of days? Going for trip and don't think the 2 batteries can last me the whole day.
