Just a q, what brand of filters u used for the 2 lens kt and where did u get them from?
I gone mine set from mSC and came with 2 x8GB Class 4 cards. Is that sufficient or a class 6 is better suited?
The filters cost me $15 for the Hoya 37mm & $10 for the unknown brand or the 40.5.
Just got them more for protection till better ones come along...

my kit came with a kingston 8gb class 4 card (theoretical max for this class is 4.8 MB/s) and i felt saving of the images to disk was a bit slow/laggy, was using the biggest jpeg res with the least compression... i havent tried raw or raw+jpeg but for sure those will be much slower

now i recently got a transcend 16gb class 6 (minimum is about 6 MB/s, but the card i have is supposed to support around 15MB/s) card and my unscientific observation is that saving of images "feels" faster now and as a result the cam "feels" snappier. when i transfer images to my computer, i can see the progress bar moves along faster now... ill try to do more scientific tests but for me it sure helps to have class 6 cards or higher since most of the pics taken are more than 5mb, which is > the 4.8MB/s limit for Class 4

My white coloured camera with matching real leather case and strap. ;)

omg... super nice.

Mind sharing where you got yours?.

The price for FL-14 is has dropped drastically. USD99 at Amazon. Hold your purchase if the priced if you are quoted the old price. ;)

just found out a trick to lock focus when in manual focusing mode, so touching the ring won't shift focus.
downside is very laychey to do, and even more laychey to reset it.

but by any chance if someone wants to do it, like me lock at an object at 1.5m away, you can try this.

do it at your own risk

focus on the point you want
with camera on, press lens mount release, turn the lens, but do not remove the lens (the contacts should leave) then turn it back on.

turn off and on the camera will not reset the af servo motor. to reset it, you'll need to power down, then remove the lens entirely (make sure the contacts leaves the mount) then remount it and power up. focus ring n servo motor should be active again

:)

You sneaky fella.. but be careful not to short out the electronics with this stunt...

Just picked mine up from Cathay, they seem to have gone back to selling the dual lens kit at RRP ($1598), up from the $1550 I was quoted earlier. They honoured the previous price though, which was nice of them.

I think they're selling out again, so if anyone wants one they'd better go today.

FL-14 is still $258 (purchase with purchase price), FL-36 is $320 and the big one (sorry, can't remember model but it's like 4 times the size of the E-P1.. FL-50?) is $700+

MSC sold out.....
Mine still in box...waiting for the leather-sticker to arrive as well as the leather case & strap which I asked my Jap coll to buy for me at Yodo..both for abt Y8000+

left my name with John 3:16 to call me when their stocks are in...but still no call from them...hopefully they didn't forget about me =(

Just collected my twin lens kit from Harvey Norman at list price 1598/- that include 8G and extra battery (original). If I register as member (pay member fees) with Olympus Singapore, I can get another battery, making 3 battteries altogether. :bsmilie:

Make sure you use Citi credit card to buy at HN. They throw in Philips Radion Alarm Digi Clock. Spare radio for the kitchen..... In addition, 2 scratch cards and I won 10 + 20 = $30/- and used it to buy a small Lowe bag for $36, duducting $30 paying only $6/-.

Some local pro shop quote $1550 but cannot :nono:pay by credit card. Also, they don't throw in extra battery:thumbsd:. You still have to pay extra to join E-Club get FOC battery.

had my first play around with the e-p1 today and i have to say that it is brilliant at what it does. compact cameras can't touch it and low end dSLRs need to watch out as more lenses come out for it.

i'd get one in an instant if i had the extra money for it!

Is the Silver EP1 available anywhere or is it just the white body being sold now?

You sneaky fella.. but be careful not to short out the electronics with this stunt...

yeah i know... haha..
no choice for now. hope the next firmware upgrade has some sort of distance scale for MF or a snap focus at 1m like the ricoh grd...

Why not just use the af-s mode and set focus to AEL/AFL button?
Custom Menu 'B' > AEL/AFL > mode 3
This way neither shifting the ring nor holding down the shutter release changes the focal point, and you can treat it like grd snap mode.

I found the battery life to drain pretty quick and the battery compartment to get HOT under an hour of use or so. That is with LCD off.

Think spare batteries really help if you shoot or lurg a camera around for long hours.

Saw someone roaming around Tanjong Pagar this morning holding an E-P1 and wearing WTD shirt. I wonder if it's someone from CS? :)

A strange thing that happen to me. I am using E-P1 with the 4/3 adaptor and with a ZD 25mm pancake lens. I notice a strange flare of light whenever I am indoor shooting. Usually a reflection from the TV or something, and the light is very "ghostly". But when I remove the UV filter from HOYA, it will not have any strange flare. I change to a BW filter, it is ok too.

Is there something wrong with HOYA filters?

Anyone knows the answer?
