Btw guys, the design of the Extreme 3 is different fm the older ones. This look more refreshing i suppose.

The older ones look v similar to Ultra 2, while now totally different. Even the capacity number has left out e 0 after the dot. The Sandisk logo is no longer in the front face oso. The transfer speed is not written on the front.

Hmmmm, looks weird wen i 1st got mine.

Sorry typo. I meant e transfer speed is NOW written on e front face.

great deal now. I bought a Extreme IV 4GB 1 over months back @ $145. Now the price drop nearly to 1/2. I think is worth to buy the 8GB Extreme III. Reason ;

Extreme III = 20mb per sec
Extreme IV = 40mb per sec
Ducati = 45mb per sec

Extreme IV & Ducati is only good when u are doing continous shoot in RAW format, other than that i think Extreme III is good enuff for daily usage. Just my newbie opinion:)

I have the same mentality as you. Thinking of getting the extreme 3 only

i suggest u go SLS buy. At SLS, best bargain computers (went down SLS today and saw the pricelist)

Extreme III -- $34 (2gb), $48.8 (4gb), $97.30 (8gb).
Extreme IV -- $59.20 (2gb), $88.80 (4gb)

There must be some typo error here... this price the cards would be sold out in minutes.

Missed out the Extreme III 16GB going for $269.
Got one myself.

as far i know Vector Magnetics sticker has to be there on the Sandisk boxes, for local Singapore warranty. correct me if I'm wrong.

above website says
Insist on SanDisk Singapore Warranty, please look for this logo on SanDisk packaging.

For Kingston if you have convergent sticker then its easier to do exchange
else the warranty may be covered by other distributor (Ingrammicro)

Let me go to best bargain tomorrow and check, if the price they offered with local warranty
then the offer is too good.

erm there's something strange here.....the brand is SANDISK, but the website is sCandisk? and it still works?

and by the way, any update on

1) are the super cheap prices accurate?

2) whether the warranty is valid in Singapore?

Thanks for your kind efforts:thumbsup: Pls keep us updated

I managed to go to SLS(Sim Lim Square) today, just came back

the sandisk CF cards sold @ Best Bargain 5th floor SLS is SHOP warranty only.
8GB CF cards is out of stock at Best Bargain

Managed to find few threads in HWZ, about the warranty issue when you buy from Shops in SLS.

i didn't notice that!, my mistake the address i keyed in was wrong

Both sites are registered to SanDisk, this is done to prevent Web Spoofing.

yeah.. seems to be the cheapest. no freebies.. just cheap prices. That's what the salesperson told me. Oh.. + you get to do lucky draw.. champion price is one of the top-of-the-range of 8GB cards, or something like that.

I went to SLS first to check out some prices before going to the IT Show and found that the prices in SLS were better.

When I enquired about a Sandisk Extreme III 4GB from AP, I was told $68. At the IT Show, the official Sandisk stall was selling at $70, and other stalls at $70+. Even a shop like Best Bargain had higher prices on their pricelist at the IT Show than at SLS.

if absolute price is a concern, then maybe SLS.. but must check that it's from local distri. Also, at the IT Show, you get to dig in lucky draw box.. so might win something extra.

Bought an Extreme III SD card for $39 and won a 4GB Cruzer thumbdrive from the lucky draw. Not Bad at all. ;)

Even if Sim Lim Square is selling the same card for $36, consider that I paid $3 more for a 4GB thumbdrive.

I asked about the warranty and was told 5 years. Mm... I thought all Sandisk CFs come with Lifetime warranty, right? Anyway, I brought several Extreme III 4GB at $70 ea.

Can anyone shine light on this warranty thingy. Thanks.

It's product's life....not human's life :sweatsm:

Anyhow I have been using CF card since 1990 and all of them obsolute in 3 years time althought they are still in good working condition

Perhaps you might have heard wrongly. I was quoted with lifetime warranty for all CF cards. The rest of the cards like sd and memory sticks are 5 years.
