I have tried mine, one NP400 can last me about 1 GB of memories include viewing and LCD on, regardless file size.

For AA battries, i tried using 512Mb... it lasted 50 shots and started flashing for "help".

one good thing about Minolta for me to con't is that the flash recycle rate if FASTER(even using normal enginzer batteries) than nikon and canon which i have tried using for event shoot. and this is what photographers will need.....

u mean the built in flash?

the 5600HS can only tahan 3 continuous flashes when on continuous shooting. 4th pic become black... wonder how the battery pack will perform.

i used 5600 and 3500... both giving me same result..... but 5600 is stronger....
nikon and canon i have tried, the recycle rate is on,off,on,off,on....
wheras 5600 is on,on,on,on,off,on,on,on,on,off about 3-4 continuous shoot before it stops....

wow.. just bought the Np400 battery two days back... I am surprised it came in OEM white box. Btw the MAh rating is 1700~!!! wow.. that's really powerful than the original one.. :)

Nope.. It's not printing error.. the original rating was 1500. The Eastgear website stated it has 20% more charge than the original pack. So I guess it's extra 200mah which made the difference. ;p

Hi there,

Need some pointers here...

Is it OK if we slot in 1x1500mAh NP-400 and 1x1700mAh NP-400 into the chambers at one time?

Thanks and regards.

gotta ask KM, but den again, how would they know... most likely they would say it would void the warranty if using non-original batteries.

i think it should be ok, its not like using the NiMh AA where you need all the same ratings.

Well, I think still compatible but the 1700NiMH will not be fully utilised if what was said that both batts are in use concurrently.

I am not sure.. but from technical point of view, it should be ok. One battery will deplete first than the other one. I have no vertical grip to try out either, maybe someone with those gears can give us an answer. ;)

If KM found that you're not using original batt, the warranty will be void. I heard someone in my company got a non-manufacturer batt (given by the shop he bought the camera) for his Minolta P&S, the batt leak and damage the camera, KM refused to repair for free although it within warranty period.

Ok, for those who bought the 7D at Sitex, your warranty card will have a sitex chop showing extended warranty. KM boss was there at Sitex observing the sales everyday and I got to meet him. I ask why the battery is OEM one. He say CP bundle and KM pay for that battery. So what if the battery or the camera is damaged? CP will handle the battery which will be replacement while the camera warranty will still hold. With that assurance, I took the bundle. They even tell me that the internal of the battery is the same that is why they bundle. I told them I will only stop my nonsense if it have a Minolta Sticker there and the boss (or person in charge of launch) kindly agreed, but of coz I did not bother to take the sticker coz the sticker they print and paste on top. The major difference between that OEM and original battery is at the contact. OEM is cheapo aluminium contact while the original is gold in colour.

okay, the vertical grip comes with an AA batt bracket holder. what if I use the AA batts and it leaks and spoils the cam? Will KM still warrant it?

good question... which i also got a good answer.. :bsmilie:

i remember reading in the manual, or mayb somewhere that they recommend only using NiMh, which does not really leak... alkaline batteries would normally leak. but there may be inferior production of batteries.

also, VC-7D is considered accessories rite, so accessories have no warranty rite?

Battery leak isn't a manufacturing fault on KM's part, they can refuse to hold warranty in this case...
