I've given up on the idea after working out the numbers. Films and the development are expensive here in Europe. So, after everything, probably it makes more money sense just to do cropping from a DSLR. ok, pixel resolutions aside.

Inexpensive 4x5 press camera (like a crown graphic) with a 6x12 back.

Film can be pretty affordable if you stick to B&W...

Just find good bargains for 100 rolls, stock it in your fridge, use D76 and reuse the fixer... buy a Canoscan 8800F to scan them at 2400dpi.

This can be much much cheaper than buying a DSLR system.

Since you are using DSLR, try stitching. You will end up with more pixels than even a MF Digital back. ;)

Thanks CAMERA23....

Got a very poor man's XPAN... :)

Hope the effect is close enough. 105mm lens.

I'm having fun with this bulky beast!

Though the mirror flap is like a slap on my face... apparently, it didn't cause blur shots even at 1/60. :)

Interesting shots chiif. I agree CAMERA23 is another sifu! His 6x17 is realli "attractive"!

Maybe we should organise a xpan shoot together. This sat seems good. Anyone? :)

Wow, I actually did think about buying this Pentax6x7 about 15 years ago. Thought it really looked "cute"- a giant SLR. It has the "SLR" look compared to other MF camera.
