Nikkor AF-S 12-24DX

For Nikon 12-24/4DX
Centre sharper than Sigma 12-24/4-5.6,
constant aperture.
More neutral colours.

but...
seems more distorted at corners,
less sharp at corners, Sigma quite consistent,
Sigma can do full frame!! :)
Frist time I looked through the Sigma on an F4 body the perspective just blew me away! But I haven't shot any film with it yet.

yeah, toss a coin..

as for apenture wise.. most of the time u might be shooting at f/8 or more in daylight.. so i tink its not a v big issue.
but if u lik to shoot indoor WA. can consider tokina for e constant f/4.

i choose sigma.. for r 2mm wider.. but after some shoot i stil tink its not wide enough.. lol. :bsmilie:

juz to confirm wif u guys.. is there a 8mm lens?
i seems to see it somewhere.. or am i dreaming?

yea man there is... but it's a FE lens

Hi guys,

sorry to borrow this thread..

can i have the rough pricing of the tokina, sigma 12-24 and the sigma 10-20? And amongst these 3, which is the better one in terms of sharpness, CA and shooting at either ends of the focal length? Aperture doesn't matter to me as i shoot f11 and above most of the time.

Thanks!

sigma
10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC - (AP $890 w/o gst) (CP $950 w/gst) (MSC $888 w/gst)
12-24mm F4.5-5.6 EX DG ASPHERICAL HSM - (AP $1050)
tokina
AF 12-24mm F4 - AT-X124 AF PRO DX ($889 w/freebies CP) ($860 w/256MB CF Card MS)

nah still haven't decided... cos i'm sharing the lens with my gf... the price is 1/2 1/2 :bsmilie:

the good part of sigma is the 10mm zoom...
where as tokina is the build of the lens...

i know it's lame to quote myself.. but i think i have decided on tokina 12-24mm

reasons?

constant f/4
12-24mm wide angle zoom range, better for event shoots
better lens body
& hv a better lens motor then sigma:think:

so sorry to let go of sigma... thanks for giving me hope sigma... :sweatsm:

It all boils down to wat u wanna shoot n imo most importantly is e feel of it on ur cam while shooting. I'd prefer heavier lenses s they give me dat stable n sturdy hold. :)

so far the reviews i read mention tokina can compare or even better then nikkor 12-24mm.. but nothing on sigma 10-20mm comparable or better then nikkor.. :dunno:

so u use a tokina 12-24mm too??

how i wish tokina lens is 10-24mm f/4

Yeah.. 12-24mm n older 28-70mm f2.6-2.8. E latter has been in my possession for more than 5yrs n still goin strong n with proper maintenance n care, mine looks, feels n performs s good as new...  :)

I sold my Nikkor 12-24DX for a SIgma 12-24... Sigma has much better control than the 12-24DX. And of course, the ability to use 12mm on Film.

lsisaxon - u can check out my gallery for Sigma 12-24 taken on Film. Simply Awesome!
