Is the S5 Pro still a worthwhile buy?

thought they do in some countries?

OT abit will you selll your camera to someone who offers to pay half the sum first and than the rest 2 wks later? i had an agreement but he just smsed me that. was to use the cash for my s5pro!!! what wil you do?

erm...release the cam to him 2 weeks later when you have received the other half of the payment?

Not in Australia or Singapore, by the sounds of it. Those are the two countries we're primarily interested in!

OK, with regards to such a deal it really depends on how much you can trust the other party. While I'd admit there's plenty of good people out there, I'm going to pass on such a deal if I were in your shoes. Understandably you want the S5, probably as badly as he wants your camera. Key is patience. I would only trade if everything was paid for in full.

thanks.. i just smsed him that mayeb he pay a deposit of almost 1/2 the amt or so and hwen he has cash i will meet up again to pass him the items.

i prob have to dig my own pocket.. sucky because i have made quite a number of deals already!! he better don't PS me.

btw
i heard buying from the US alot perks haha

he refuse to it.. wants to pay half first for the camera and all than will sign a contract with me. and when bonus come pay the rest. i mean if he is working why cant he pay full first?? sign contract liao later he run away i LL .

just tell him when he got the full amount then contact you. and if the cam still available you will sell to him at that time.

thanks. sorry for OT. haiz.. lesson learnt. nvr trust these ppl..

I bought my S2 Pro from Calumet Photo in the U.S. Here is how their warranty work.

  • The terms and conditions are similar to here, except they offer it for 5 years, instead of 1 year.
  • If problems do occur to your camera within the warranty period, first, you must print and fill a Repair Form. Then, package the camera in a sturdy container and ship your camera via UPS (no, you cannot use other couriers) to FujiFilm Repair Department in Edison, NJ. You pay the shipping charges.
  • The technician will evaluate the problem and condition of your camera and contact you (this will take about 4 to 5 working days).
  • There may be charges imposed if the faulty part is not covered by warranty (such as the hotshoe mount, battery compartment, rubber grip, etc)
  • Repair will usually takes about 10 to 15 working days. (so it says, but I ever got my camera back in 2 months!)
  • Once repaired, Fujifilm will ship the camera back to you via UPS (in the U.S, UPS deliverymen are known to damage parcels).

If the guy is really keen and sincere, give him a deadline. After which the camera is free for all. Looking at it from both sides of the matter it's a difficult situation. The other party may be genuinely interested but still waiting on their paycheck, and the seller of course cannot release the camera at half price and trust the buyer to pay the other half. :dunno: To be safe however, keep the camera on you till it's paid for.

That's a lot of alarm bells right there. I'd think it would be wiser to buy a local set instead just in case things do go wrong.

anyway guys i have a link here comparing the s5pro and other cameras in real life situations

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1021&message=24291058

Thanks for the link. Geez, I hope to never be caught photographing such a wedding. The bright tuxes and gowns will blow my brains out!

Some of the comments in that thread are right on the money however. The D2H and D200 images are possibly overexposed.

yeah.. actually u see the s5pro not impressive. but after comparing you be like OMG :bsmilie:

I've used both S5 and D200 while I was in Myanmar recently.
Under uniform lighting(not so high DR) it shines...nice contrasty color.
but once it meets difficult situation.. the highlight clips real bad in comparison to S5pro and the shadow is less detailed.

no problem :)...
be posting my myanmar series hopefully once i finish exam and editing...
really beautiful country..
IMO, very very underrated compared to the neigbouring countries due to the isolation and political situation, but for photography it's heaven in SEA :)

yea. me having exams too.. last paper tmr :D anw i wann get the 70-210 AFD for my s5pro any uncles or bros tried it before???

Best of luck to you guys who are having exams. I'm personally glad to be past that stage because they weren't much fun at all. They just favour the academic types, you know?

Another question as an aside: I'm running all my picture editing on a Mac on OS X 10.5.5. In recent times there have been unboxed Hyperutility CDs popping up on Ebay. Apparently I need to download a free upgrade to enable it to be compatible with the S5. Does anyone here know if such software will work on my OS?

If cannot get hyper utility to work then may be difficult for me to work with the S5 Pro. I want to shoot RAW. Always.

i've one HV3 set. pm me if you want. but i'm not sure about mac os. CD is usable in both mac and windows.
