For pple who don't know the difference between post processing and photo editing,
This is a very good example of photo editing. Commonly used in advertising films.

well, it's a good display of processing technique

uhhhmmm.. That is awfully too much. crap work. :thumbsd:
Making a photograph look like a painting ..:thumbsd:

er, you obviously don't see much fashion shots.

PP has always been done .. in film and nw digital. Nowaday photo competiton allows some degree of PP.

It is here to stay.

I think touching up the image is alright but superimprose with another face is too much!

I still think it is overly done for a fashion magazine.
Look at the skin tone. That is some degree of artificial skin tone... making it so 'plastic' and 'fake', I don't see this work in a fashion magazine, maybe for a game review magazine. I think i saw a similar work in NFS game cover few years ago.

it's like asking your girlfriend / wife -> Is make up needed ? ... ;p
The answer would apply well here :)

If you are a paid professional, PP till your client happy.

If you are hobbyist, PP till yourself happy.

Excessive PP becomes plastic surgery.

Excessive of everything / anything is never good,
it all depends on the context , purpose , intend
e.g. what if the intend is "plastic surgery" ? :)

well post processing is just to bring out the best between the photo and ur creativity. PP is different from photoshopping.

PP probably change the mood and colors of the photos but photoshop is really changing the whole concept and deisgn. Do i make sense?

Photoshop is just a popular tool used to post process photos, which has itself become a byword in image post-processing...thus to say to photoshop is akin to saying to post-process...

if one does PP to change the whole concept and design, then the photo would've been a failure right, since the intent of the photo is lost.

Is PP really needed?

No, it is not really needed
you do not need to do PP
but it would be better if it was done

I'm not too sure of that. But I'm sure it would be better if it were done correctly. There are times when I felt that the image direct from the camera was already the intended one such that I was unable to PP to make it better, so it was better to just leave it alone.

it really depends alot on the skills of the person doing the PP
