TS, you did everything right, don't have to feel down by this. In fact you should be glad that you did not do the shoot with him.

I do agree with u ppls... photographer will let their portfolio do the talking.... even if i ask for TFCD without even the model asking me ... i will give them my link to my portfolio...

hmmm looking at his portfolio and "10 yrs experiences" i only have this face to show :bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie:

I think this picture from his album says it all:

haha i dun like him. cause of this comment
Can't understand u also, what u want see my port link is dun trust
me as a photographer? If so wonder how to working with u? lols..i

If u want asking for paid shoot, shld u show ur port link to me
instead? If dun have port link shld do more tfcd to build up ur link..
I able let u know my photography skill more den 10 over
yrs
, how about u wonder how many yrs modelling experience?

i shoot 10 yaers already also. big deal. dslr so what? big deal. ur asking for tfcd, show portfolio nia, big deal. why must go wayang around say u award winning photographer? big deal.

that guy is trying to buff up his ego with air. thats the part i cannot stand.

to be honest, a good photographer, even give him pns, can out shoot any random guy with a dslr. and we all know its actually quite easy to do so.

I think showing the portfolio is a good way to let the person to have some idea and judgement before engaging the photographer for a shoot. :)

Remember the recent crime watch which shows the sleazy blackmailing photographer?? Wouldn't want that to happen right!!

So it's the right thing that TS requested for his portfolio. And him being "insulted" or "offended" by the request is out of line. He approached her, requesting to do photoshoot. It's her right to ask for his background/portfolio, given the circumstances that is happening now as the example given above..

But who are we to judge the photographer, maybe he has his own reasons for being that way. So its up to the mods or admin to clarify the matter with him.

Just my 2 cents..

not only that... he claims to have 10 years of photographing experience.

let see, i also started photography (not serious type) in 2002 with a pns but got my dslr last year only (short of his by 2 years).

seeing his works and mine, both of us is as bad :bsmilie: (one look can see both of us dunno how Photoshop!) if he can win awards, how come i cannot? i need to pm him which contest he joined, maybe i should join also.

I dont even have DSLR

I think my flickr link here below in my signiture cannot win award

Maybe he meant 'self-awarded award-winning' trophies? And from where?
It can only mean a few things when one does not want others to view his portfolio.

I feel that if the model ask for the portfolio, it is only right for the PG to provide it and let the model decide whether to proceed to work together, especially if it is a TFCD.

And it is alright if the models asks whether you're using handphone, PnS or DSLR or SLR.

I will find it weird only if the models starts asking whether "Does your camera have 51 AF?", "Do you use an L lens?", "How many MP is your camera?", "What iz the GN of your flash?" etc....:bsmilie:

In fact, checking out the portfolio is the best question to ask a photographer. No decent photographer will reject or refuse..

OT:
Asking what equipment he uses is a bit out of line thou (Just example only.. OT).. You judge his portfolio whether the pictures are "up to standard".. If it is, it doesn't matter what camera he uses so long as he can deliver. If it isn't, using a top of the line DSLR won't produces miracles like what happen to those pictures in the portfolio..

Yah support TS.
I have been shooting for 10 over years and I think i shoot like crap hahah I wouldn't dare to show my portfolio but hey i wont dare to ask for TFCD at the same time.
dun let ppl like him spoil your day lah ..
u know your own worth.

Aye, thanks for all the advise and suggestions.. I feel better now. Cuz the way he write is like I am trying to think too highly of myself just because I do not have 10 years of modelling experience.

And yupp, the reason I posted the whole PM out was cuz I do not want people to say that I edited the original comment. Though, I am sure he will be really upset about this.

ROFL I would REALLY be curious to the identity of the photog if anyone was looking for a model with 10 years experience for TCFD

haha.. yeah. Well, i guess as long as we models are careful, we will not let any photographers take advantage of us :)

That's about all I can say though, because I think his concept of "award winning" is when his very drunk friends go "your pic is ok".

:bsmilie::thumbsup:
