Is it every Canon user (pro, hobbyist ) want to own a white L lens?

haha i just bought a pretty good olympus 200mm f4. so not so keen to get a 70-200 white elephant so soon. :p and the best is this lens only cost me $150 + $40 for the adapter. The results is pretty good but its pure manual focusing. Sometimes u dun really need a L lens, some older lenses have the on par quality of a L lens as well.

good pic nice.. haha ya can think of other alternate.. thanks for the help..

Actually you can also convince yourself not to buy the lens after renting. It's true for myself. I rented the 17-55 but did not buy till now because I feel I can live with 18-55 + flash :D
convince myself, this i will have to try... haha thanks tucksoon..

oh, than it time for you to have a white L lens.. :)
faster sell all the black 1 and get a white 1..

TS, do you even know the differences between the white and black L lenses?

white L-lenses are white(or off-white) for a reason.

yes correct. and the white coating is mostly applicable to longer focal length lenses such as the 70-200 series, 70-300, 100-400 etc etc.

this means that the 35L, 50L, 85L, 135L, 200L etc are in black coating. doesnt make sense to sell off the black L-lens for a white one cause all the lenses are of different focal length to suit different pattern of usage.

Haha last year's NDP I saw someone with an 85L, except that it's white. DIYed much?

*faint* i only joking with him... i know the different lens...

For AF, IS, weather protection, IQ, I think you are paying for what you get. I am still amazed with the 70-200 f4's overall performance that I keep it even though I don't use it very often.

Yap jus asking abt the white 1. I know black L lens is good as well, bt just ask only.

I have one black and one white so it's equal!

Not really a "will want"... it just happens to be the colour of the zoom lens that allows the photographer to shoot tele. Else, many would settle for things like 100, 135 or 200 which are all black.

The main reason why the mainstream teles are white as they're mainly used outdoors in sports events, etc and the fluorite element in them do get affected in some way by heat over a period of time. Therefore they're painted white to decrease the absorption of heat from the sun.

I find that white elephant will occupied most of your dry cabi space. So ended up I gotta upgrade my cabi too. Haha.
