Is dry cabinet necessary ?

I think it's the other way round.

The silicon gel is dark blue in colour when it has not absorbed any moisture.
It will turn light pink when it has absorbed moisture.

Last time am i using a new silicon gel model or what? hehe...
Or maybe i got a poor memory... btw, using a electronic drybox now, got it yesteray.

But since most lens have UV coating, if there is fungus on the lens the UV light cannot penetrate in.

Blue = No absorbed moisture (pardon my english).

what brand and model of electronic dry box is good and cheap? i have a dslr with 2 lens. maybe going for more lens in future.

haven't read this thread yet, this net runs @ <1k ridiculous speed. but dry cabinet? YES!!
Lost 3 of my binoculars due to fungus, 1 minolta 7d + some lenses, 1 Panasonic Fz series, 1 Olympus prosumer, and some I don't bother to remember, so sad.
The list continues, kept in 2 different locations/houses! Under the tv, inside the cabinet, inside minolta bag with silica in it, etc poof still gets infected! It looks like strands of hair or root, irritating thing.
Fungus can get u anytime anywhere. Don't play play! Get a cabinet or drybox with some silica.

Nope wasn't using any protection then, no dry cabinet, container. Thought the fungus won't get to me THEN. Now, I'm 101% using cabinets & container for all my stuffs.
