Is dicussions on economic policies allowed in kopitiam?

I am serious about this. If discussion about economic policies are not allowed because it is linked to politics, I will avoid such threads in the future lah. So will not create more work for moderator....

From the thread, u can see that the discussion was ON the new economic policy of Obama's administration to limit excutive compensation to 500k. It is not even about US politics..... not about Obama's election, not about local politics, nothing. Why was it closed?

I can understand why some LOCAL economic policies are sensitive as they have a high tendency to degenerate into a complain fest about local political parties. But the policy in question is not even local but rather US policy...

I really do hope that certain moderators do not abuse their power and if certain discussions are off limits in Kopitiam CS, I will follow the rules.

PS: I feel that feedback forum is a place for people to FEEDBACK. If the same moderator happy happy close of thread in 4 hours, what is the point of a feedback forum?

PSS: I may be a bit a bit naive, but I really do believe REASON will prevail... sooner or later....

anyways, if you spend more time on websites in general, even blogs commenting on the us political/policy scene as a one-off episode gain 8000 trolls (probably american) rampaging in and expressing their points of view.

so the problem is the same, just that it needs more time before the bickering begins.

There is no mentioned in the Term of Use that discussion on "economic policy/ies" are not allowed in Kopitiam. Having said that please note the last sentence on #3 of the Term of Use (which I have pasted below) "in nature or can construed as such (political) will also be removed without notice when necessary"

Hence it was removed as it was deemed political. Let me go thru the points:

1. Your thread title was "Is Obama barking up the wrong tree?" Not something like "Is the economic policy set by Obama correct?"

- In the first question, the main focus or the point for discussion that is put forward is interpreted as what? - Is Obama (as a politician) barking up the wrong tree? whereas if it is the latter is worded then the main focus or point for discussion would be interpreted as and would be focusing on " Is the the economic policy laid by Obama (as a policy maker) correct?"

2. In fact 2 members (which is all the thread participants excluing the TS) ie samranjit and Rashkae rightfully interpreted it as a discussion on the politician Obama ie political discussion.

3. To further illustrate what transpired in the thread, in post #2 samranjit replied "Please don't insult obama, he is the chosen one" not something like "don't insult his policy" or " yes the policy is ridiculous .... etc etc" Hence the interpretation is a discussion on Obama "the politician" - political in nature.

4. Next Rashkae explicitly mentioned "Why are we discussing politics here?" In which smaranjit replied "Why not?" -

5. Looking at the way it is deemed political because of the way it is put across, I step in and also issued a reminder quoting samranjit (which he obviously do not know or missed reading the CS Term of Use). At the same time, taking the opportunity to remind all members, the CS Term of Use and closed the thread. Nothing personal or abusive or abuse of authority, period. I would have done the same to any other thread I come across as political be it by you (the TS) or by simranjit or by night86mare or by any members.

6. I do not take kindly to remarks against moderators or me especially those of unjust accusation of abusing powers. Such apology like this http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4769179&postcount=93 would not come from me readily if I am the type who abuse powers and bull doze my way thru.

I have made my point very clearly in this post http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4778546&postcount=11 and I am making it again.

Do not push your way too far as had happened before.
