IR using F828 nightshot w R72

Trying to shot daytime IR shots using F828 with R72 in nightshot mode, but found it is near impossible as all image are overexposed.

Is there any 58mm IR filter that is higher than R72 (i.e. 720nm) and how much would it cost?

Or is it better to get a ND filter to stack with the R72?

I believe Hoya offers RM90 at a cutoff point of 900mm.

A ND filter stacked with R72 will produce false colors, whereas RM90 will produce close to black and white.

Checked on RM90. Quite Ex.
Saw someone post IR shots using GTS2 IR filter (1000nm). Is there anywhere which sells GTS2?

Hi bro, have try to DIY your filters, i learn this thru webite. Find some brand new FDD diskette and cut them nicely , paste or fix it on a normal 58 mm uv filter. and wa la you have your own infrared filter at low cost, the cons is you cant zoom in too much, as the noise level will goes up. total cost less than 20 bucks. Pls Note only for F828!

Bro... When using F828 or F717 for IR, due to the lack of control over the camera (FULLY OPENED APERTURE, SLOW SHUTTER SPEED), the cheapest and many considered best option is to get ND filters. Moving up from R72 to GTS2 may allow you to shoot with a single filter, but you will get only Black and White images due to the higher cut off point. If you want some colour, then a simple ND8 is the best way to go...

I have tried R72, GTS2, ND filter stacks... virtually everything on F828 and F717... except modding...

Thanks for all the suggestions and advise. Got myself a ND8. Now busy shooting and playing with the post processing.

Maybe in the future will try the higher nm filters for the B/W effects.

BTW, just for my future reference, anyone knows any places that sells GTS2, or it can only be bought online?
