IR doesn't come out as expected

Tried taking an IR shot but the result isn't the same as per tutorial sample. Does anyone know why?

Example taken from log1t3ch's tutorial.
Compared with my photos taken with 20D, 10-22mm, IR filter is 720nm.

What brand/model of IR filter were you using?
Looked like the CWB wasn't set properly.

hi dasouljah, this pic was taken right from camera before the channel swap.
it's because the end product was not as expected so im comparing the raw image before PP.

tomcat, filter was borrowed so im unsure of the brand, not printed on the side.

First pic of the road, the trees manage to look nice and white but i get an orange tint instead of log1t3ch's brownish tint. Is it overexposed?

For every location change / difference in sunlight, do I have to re-customize the white balance?

not sure, but logitech's is more likely than not hoya r72

was it a screw in filter?

if you must have those tones nothing that photoshop can't solve, but the tones are not a must

something closer after pp

in any case, your wb is not exact.. what camera was used?

need to do custom WB even you are shooting raw,

1st pic is direct sunlight, 2nd is diffuse sunlight, both need different custom WB.

i used a 20D, yes the filter was screwed in.
my wb not exact? i set it to a patch of grass under direct sunlight just beside the pavement. Is there a more suitable method?

desaturated blues not that hard to do

Agree. The CWB should be set to reference picture 2 or 3. Then you should be OK. Good Luck!

i'm not too sure about canon. but i know they do require longer exposures.
i'm using a hoya R72.
i got a feeling that ur white balance is wrong though.
the 1st pic seems more "correct" than the 2nd one, which looks like the cwb is set on "auto"
i suspect that the 1st pic's cwb is set wrongly(maybe over/underexposed?) not sure if it affects it, just my 2 cents worth

i believe that the filter that you are using is different from log1t3ch. the filter that he is using is Hoya R72, which is more 'friendly' to Canon.

The first pix that you post seems to be of correct WB, except that different filter will give you different result.

As for the 2nd pix, it seem like you are still in the AWB mode. you might wanna check it again.
