I don't know how Medan is, but I guess there will be something called "WARNET" for you to access internet. (With their pc), I believe Wireless Internet Connection is a rare thing there... for now.

am from medan myself, and although quite a lot of wireless internet connection is being promoted around the town, i'd really suggest not to hope on them. extremely low connectivity or else they'd ask you to pay. nevertheless, i've tried connecting freely wirelessly most successfully and most often at sun plaza, at its jco there. on the other hand, this is speaking from myself who haven't gone home for the past 4 months. and in 4 months, medan do change quite noticeably

I'm in Medan since Monday and have been getting use to the environment here. I think I can forget about internet access for the moment. The communications infrastructure here is.... ummm... voice orientated.

And talk about change... the Maps I brought here isn't accurate too... got lost a couple of times already.

that is indonesia, very easy to get antiques :bsmilie:

By the way, the map sold for makassar (aka ujung pandang) even that is sold in airport is like circa 1980s and the city size has probably doubled now. Lots of roads are "missing", name changed, direction changed (ie double lane becoming single lane...)

I don't know man, you may feel excluded when people start talking in Indonesian. Worse if they start talking in slang specific to a particular city or region. Even though they speak standard Indonesian I can sometimes tell which major city they are from. The way Medan people speaks is different from Jakarta, different from Surabaya, Bali, Makassar, Menado, Ambon ...

yeahh ure very true....so far...im able to understand mostly jakarta people speaks...not too fluent...but m able to...
