"This April, ClubSNAP—the largest dedicated photography discussion forum and community site in Singapore—will be holding its 10th anniversary. From April 20 to April 22, the celebration will include dinner and photo exhibition as well as photo talks with various topics.
The whole celebration will be started with a gala dinner on April 20, 7pm at Singapore Art Museum (SAM) glasshall. The weekend (April 21 – 22) will be full of photo talks, with several international photographers as well as Southeast Asian photographers as the speakers.
The agenda on April 20 will also be attended by the honored guest Chan Chun Sing, the Minister of State at Singapore’s Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts. “Mr Chan is also Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports,” added Eddie Ng, a senior member and Moderator at clubSNAP. “Mr Chan is also a passionate hobby photographer.”
The main photo talk will be presented by the international photographer Geoff Ang, who will come as the star speaker. Also, there will be another photo talk presented by the internationally-acclaimed mobile phone street photographer Aik Beng Chia—familiarly known as Pixelmunky.
“From Indonesia, we will have Kristupa Saragih speaking on Photo Hunting Opportunities in Indonesia as well as Indonesia’s renowned landscape photographer Yadi Yasin who will be speaking on how to create epic 360 degree landscape photos,” said Eddie.
The topics to be discussed in the photo talks will cover a wide range of photography genres—from wedding, travel, to wildlife photography. There will also be photo walks on April 21 and 22 mornings with various Asia walk mentors. All agendas—the dinner, exhibition, as well as photo walks and talks—are to take place at Singapore Art Museum.
clubSNAP’s anniversary actually falls in January 17; however, it has a particular reason that the anniversary celebration has to wait until April to be carried out. “November 2011 to January 2012 is a holiday season for everyone—Christmas and New Year as well as Chinese New Year, so we have been able to organize the celebration only after these holidays,” Eddie explained.
The string of events is supported by Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Olympus, Shiro (Hasselblad, Profoto Lights), and the Singapore Art Museum, among many other supporters and friends.
clubSNAP alone was founded in 2002; today, the community has already gathered more than 170.000 members from Singapore, Southeast Asian countries, and other parts of the world. "
