someone burns money for lens

few burn money for both

now it is time for someone burns camera for not burning money again ;p

wow real power..
is it those who spend on the d70 think its all they will spend, and then realise they really just at the begining and actually have to spend heaps more to really enjoy the camera?

If so i agree...

those who just get the d70 and think is the end would maybe get tired of it and sell it off.. And
those who get bitten by the bug end burning both pockets as you say..

I'd be very interested to hear, and this is a serious question, why the D100 is a preferable camera to the D70 which doesn't cut it? The way I look at it the D70 seems a better camera than the D100, so wondering what I'm missing.

Hi Clive,

Yuppers, I agree with Jed. Maybe we are missing something. :dunno: Pls enlighten us about why D70 doesn't cut it compared to D100.

Thanks :)

I guess this is the fact of those who bought D70 on impulse cos i am one of them.

I was so dissapointed with the pics i have taken cos they can't compare to my previous Olympus UZ750. The pics were mostly dark and unsharp. Well...i have read so much about the D70 and i am still confident on it so i am holding back of selling it. There is no where i can turn back now...

The good news is i am getting better pics each time i shoot...guess practice makes perfect..and i am going to post my pics for comment once it is up to my standard.. ;)

Good luck for me...

hey, stick with it! dun drop out of the DSLR action. it takes a while to get the hang of shooting in any other mode than auto! me took like 2-3 mths before i got the hang of my 300D and stop throwing away shots.

buying a DSLR doesn't make a person an exception photog overnite. tho i've heard of stories of people buying a DSLR as a P&S cam... sheesshhh... too much $$$ to burn.

A lot of people selling D70 meh? AFAIK, there are as many people selling 300D as those selling D70 as well as those selling other brand camera like Canon A70 etc... :dunno:

Agree with you snake . Its the man behind the camera who make the difference. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Allow me to restate the Maxim of Amfibius: "In every equipment discussion, there will always be one poster who says that the photographer is more important than the camera, or a variant thereof".

me, gunning for better pictures:
"It's not about the camera, it's the lenses" LOL!!!

D70 does not have vertical grip, not easy to balance a heavy 400/2.8 I think.

The tripod support would be on the lens itself rather than on the camera I believe, why would it be hard to balance a 400 f/2.8?

I just noticed that a lot of D70 users are selling off their Film bodies.. and even I'm thinking of selling off my F80 for spare cash for other items. Is it advisable to keep the film body? :)

Well, for now, if i can't get hold of a D1 :P haha or a S3pro... a film SLR will do good! Your F80 will serve you well too... develop film, just ask them to scan and burn to CD instead of print. Very nice shots too :D

Yes, the lack of a vertical grip is the one common accepted drawback of the D70 over the D100. But everything else seems to be in favour of the D70 rather than the D100. No, I don't see the relevance to a 400/2.8 either.

A lot of people sell becos they lose very little money in selling now.

If they lose more, they probably not selling anymore. :D

Just one of the excuses for changing camera. ;)

We all go through a circle then realize the camera is only as good as the photographer.

Maybe 'coz Photokina is coming?

Hope that Nikon launches the D100 replacement there, so that I can get hold of it in 3 months time. In the mean time, the D70 is sold out and still waiting for stock to come. I can wait a little bit longer for it. At least, with that newer camera, I could at least use for 3 years if not 5 before moving on to full-frame by then.

Out of stock? I can find at least 10 sets at Lords cameras.

My personal experience with prosumer range of digicam tells me that there is just too many limitation and there are shots that you just can't make it. The D70 would be a good start point for ppl who are going into DSLR...why..cosz it is affordable. Nikon has answered my prayer!

i actually got this feeling that more ppl selling 300d after D70 went on the market.
most of the ppl i know, they probably feel it's too big for them after buying compare wif a compact digital which is hip especially during some functions

Actually there's a french photography magazine saying that Nikon will release a D50 and D90 in February 2005. D50 being cheaper than D70 and D90 being the D100 replacement - which Thom Hogan seems to think might be true too.
