In view of today's announcement and in retrospect...

maybe that's why it took so long for the FX format to come out, making sure that D3 don't get released in a not here not there kind of state  good long term consideration both for users and manufacturer

Yah.. That''s why I have the faith that when Nikon releases a product, it's a good product and I won't be wasting money.

DX is still going strong. Very stong in fact with the launch of D300. Many users will still be using the DX format.

Nikon have always not ruled out a FF DSLR.

Was there a FF vs DX war? I always think that each has its strength.

I wonder why peoplel like to present this as a WAR? Why does it have to be a one size fits all? :nono:

This will always be a question of your need as a photographer. If I am a sports shooter, and I need the speed and telephoto advantage of the DX format, I will use the DX format. However, if I am the landscape/architecture shooter and want the wide and "good pixel" advantage of the FX format, then the FX format is for me.

And if I can justify the expense, either because it pays for itself with projects, or if money no object cos I am rich, then I will go the D3 with FX, which will enable me to take advantage of both formats with one body. :)

I still remember that 2-hr Nikon paid group survey that somebody here jio me to go and take up.... raised up most of the points also (including that present Nikon SG club or whatever :bsmilie:). I believe all over the world similar points have been raised.

Kudos to Nikon for listening!!! Guess I will be continuing to get another Nikon body again....

support affordable solutions, not brand

:bsmilie: 藕断丝连

Well said....for my case, i rather sell off the 20mm and 17~35mm to finance the the new AFS14-24, all i need its wide, not those features on D3...........neber invest on any dx lens cos i shoot flim too........so now will have the next best solution while waiting for the mid range FF nikon body............

In any case, price of a digital body drop like mad after sometime, must as well invest on a good lens which in most cases (not all), retain it value pretty well....not that want to sell, but at least heart not so pain..........

Just a tot, if i die die need a FF today (FF only not the other features) i would rather spend the S$7.5k on a canon 5D and still have almost 3.5K for the len.....why spend all 7.5K on something that i dont need and hardly (if ever) use (for me lah)?? Any comment?

Ah... but unless you are looking into owning 2 systems, the selling and switching will make you suffer a loss as well.
