Althought I must say, I sometimes do agree with your comments and your style, because I really, really, really hate all the recent Pinksy:St shots by everyone and his dog though, and haven't said anything about them.

i don't really find anything wrong with all the pinky : st shoots. though it's not my kinda thing, i don't hate it too. some ppls just love their toys and enjoying shooting it. what's the point here? and btw what dog are you talking about?

i can't believe it took 3 pages before someone finally got it.

deadpoet's sharing shots more for the novelty of meeting the model halfway across the world than looking for critiques/looking to impress.

he put them in the portraits and poses forum because it's more likely that the photographers in this forum will recognize the model and be able to grasp the magnitude of coincidence.

and you guys should be grateful to have someone to give critiques instead of ask the standard "great shot, what's your equipment?"

unless, of course, you post pics up on CS to receive ego boosts/compliments instead of critiques that help you to improve, but that's another topic.

I will not comment on these images. My comments are directed to certain issues brought up in this thread.

I agree that these images appear to me to be snapshots of a fortuitous moment, with an attempt to turn the chance meeting to a "photoshoot".

However since DP did not say "For sharing only, no comments asked for", then in accordance with his own standards and principles of freedom of expression on images posted in an open forum, he should expect comments and criticisms on the images.

Whether he was prepared for a photoshoot or not, I am sure DP will agree, is irrelevant. His lack of preparation and unfavorable circumstances in taking these pictures, is also, irrelevant.

And DP should be grateful that he had a lot of people giving good criticisms to these images.

Such comments were given to give DP insights where the images failed, and hopefully he can improve his imagery - especially when they had seen his other images, and did not think too much of his images.

personally, i find any deliberate tit-for-tat for the sole purpose of revenge or showing DP a "taste of his own medicine" childish and downright malicious.

i believe in not solving a problem by creating another problem.
(i see it as a problem.)

however,

for a man who professes to speak 'honestly' about the 'truth', vehemently defends the freedom of expression as he understands it, freely speaking his mind regardless of the reactions of 'receivers' of his version of the truth, believes in the principle of 'shoot first, ask questions later' .... surely he must be magnanimous and mature enough to acknowledge similiar 'rights' from others here?

There is alot to be desired in terms of techicalities and what not... but what i can see is that there are alot of unhappy people out there who just post stupid comments because they have a chance to slam him, true, he is brutally blunt when giving comments, but at least his comments, although blunt and sometimes abrasive, carries truth in them. Not that many people actually do that here. :dunno:

That said, these shots are damn weak compared to what you have posted before DP. It looks like candid snapshots of a friend who happens to be with you at a tourist spot... which is what they are in fact.
