In Hong Kong & Macau

This is the infamous Chungking Mansions of Hongkong, 17 storeys of guesthouse choices, where you can find the cheapest accommodation.

I managed to get a single room (attached bathroom with hot water, aircon, wifi) for $23 a night, which is considered a real bargain in Hongkong. I can recommend you the guesthouse through PM.

Honestly, during my stay there, I did not encounter or witness any trouble in that area. I believed they have cleaned up pretty much. Security guards are stationed at the ground level lift landings and watching the CCTV installed in the lifts.

The only downside was that the lifts can be quite slow and packed, and the stairways can be a dirty (and tiring) alternative.

One of the first places I would look out for in any foreign countries would be the markets, where there will definitely be a lot photography opportunities.

The fishes are kept barely alive with air hoses in the shallow styrofoam boxes, once in a while, a few would flop out at the browsing customers and onto the floor below.

Beautiful shots; I like the temple shots in particular. Very meaningful, as I aged....

There are two main ways to get from Hong Kong island and the Kowloon mainland- the MTR and the Star Ferry.

Many travel writers describe the ride on the Star Ferry as a travel experience in itself.

The crew of the Star Ferry about to release the drawbridge linking the boat to the pier. Picture was really grainy as the conditions were quite dark at that time.

Another transport I took pretty often due to the novelty factor and cheap fares ($0.40)- the tram, affectionally known as "Ding Ding" is not just a tourist attraction but still an integral mode of transport for people on the Hong Kong Island.

The public buses are also rather efficient and despite the hectic peak hours, people actually do make the effort to queue up at the bus stands.

The tip for people staying for more than a few days in HK is to purchase their version of the ez-link card, called the Octopus Card. It can be used for most mode of transport (discounted rates) and purchases at convenience stalls.

Sometimes, you never know what to expect at the marketplace.

Lovely series.

Like #6 & #7 the most

Love how you capture the little bits & pieces of their lifestyle

Picture #7 is a favourite but #31 speaks volumes. You have done it again with this series.

You are never far away from some mahjong activity in Macau and Hongkong, from my few minutes of observations, they play at a fast and furious pace.

Lovely inspiring series, and great street shots as usual
Will be visiting HK again in september for a week, will probably drop by Macau / Shenzhen. As it is supposed to be more shopping oriented, me and my wife booked a hotel near Mongkok instead. Btw very envious of ur guesthouse stay, would have been quite an experience with good photog opportunities.
