Yes, it is only available in certain areas of the world. There are 3 more coming up within a year... but I don't know where in the world they will occur.

Upgraded, lol. good for birding as ISO much much better

ricleo : nice shots~!

This lens is really quite impressive. Got poisoned to get one for quite a while after browsing through all the great photos posted here and since had the chance to shoot the regatta as well, decided to bite the bullet on Saturday.

Haven't had time to review the shots as I took turns with another photog (Going to MR liaos so not much stamina to stand the whole day to shoot all the races) but from the view finder after zooming in, everything looks good on my 5D3.

Currently using the Sirui R-1204 with the K-10x ball head. Wondering if this is good enough with the 120300+5D3 or I should be getting something better.
Thanks~!

Congrats on buying a great lens! Share your shots here as well! I had the r1204 previously as well with a g20 head. Found it slightly flimsy for the heavy lens. Got a r2204 instead and a gimbal head to better support the lens. Bought a budget china beike gimbal. Works well enough for me since I don't shoot with this lens on tripod that frequently

Am looking to buy a lens for bird photography, I confused to choose between sigma 300 f2.8 and the latest 120-300 f2.8 , my option is to use teleconverter also to reach 600mm .rarely I do sports photography. any advice from the users.

Thanks ( pls don't scold me if I posted anything stupid)

Hi prakan, if you want OS, the 120-300 is the way to go. If you want a smaller lens, the 300mm F2.8 prime is a good option but you lose the OS function. to me the zoom is better as it offers better flexibility and prices are similar! 2X teleconvertors from Sigma will work well with both lenses.

recommend you check out this thread on POTN for excellent birding shots with the sigma 120-300 OS HSM version by Gabebalaz.
