Im New with DSLR (D7000)

TS Nice! I got my D7000 recently as well.. But got the kit with the 18-105mm lenses..

Tinking of getting either 18-55mm or 18-200mm as i go on..

If u find yr existing kit lens too short u can consider selling away the kit for 18-200 else get the 35mm f1.8 to compliment yr current setup for low light shoots.

just bought the 35mm 1.8G to pair my D7000.. wow the AF on the 35mm is very silent... am using it for the Europe Trip coming Feb.. any kind advise from the xpert ??

smaller mm doesn't mean the closer it can goes.:bsmilie: it means wider.

Dont quite understand by what is wider wor.. 16-85mm will take sharper images at close range ma??? Also wanna get fast AF for quick shots..

reading from ur previous posts, it seems to me tat u had yet to discover ur shooting needs, n u even dun understand the basic technical stuff on photography stuff like focal length. i suggest u to shoot more n discover wad ur current lens limits u, nt juz see wad lens is sharper n buy it. n also read up more on the technical stuff.

for u to read up on focal length: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Focal_length
http://www.paragon-press.com/lens/lenchart.htm

to ans ur current qns, the 16-85 is slightly better than the 18-105 in terms of sharpness but it's nt really noticeable. but do take note that u trade off the extra 20mm reach for an extra 2mm wider view. if u find that u need longer reach then i'd say this lens isnt meant for u.

18-105 is fast enough on your D7k IMHO ;p
using single point AF mode will help the AF a little faster in low light..
by the way, image sharpness also depends on many factors.. including your level of "acceptability"
18-105 is known to be a decent sharp lens.. wish you enjoy your shooting :)

wow, how much is the 18-200mm VR2? I got the kit only and I thought it is awesome.

Hi all,

I went to a shop, thinking of buying the Canon 60D. Wanted to learn photography for my incoming newborn son!
After feeling D7000, I basically ignored the 60D even though it is cheaper.
Got D7000 with the 18-105mm lens @ $2.1K (with 2* 8GB + Tripod+ Cleaning Kit + 35 mm F1.8 lens+ Sling bag + backpack + travel bag + hand strap + silica gel)
Is it a fantastic deal?

Can't wait to start snapping away!

Didn't try the the 60D, no point since i'm already using D80 before hand, just recently upgraded and love the D7000=)

Hi~ i am getting D7000 on IT fair~ coz i am a newbie~ in need of those beginner stuffs~ do u all think i should buy the body instead of the kit since they give free 50mm lens~ with that i dun think i would use 18-105mm often~ thinking of saving the 300 to buy the sb900 and maybe get a 18-200mm but 18-200mm kinda expensive compared to 18-105mm with around 700 bucks difference~

Feel free to leave any comment^^

Hi,
Got my new toy D7K recently, and thinking to buy another zoom lense.

Read that many advised to buy nikkor 1685 or 18200,how about tamron 18270 ?

For info,i already own 35mmF1.8,50mmF1.8 and 55-200mm zoom lense.what do you all think which one to buy ?

Checked the price list :
nikkor 1685 = $850.
nikkor 18200 = $950.
tamron 18-270 = $700.

seems like tamron 18270 is better price if quality is not a issue here.

Thanks in advance.
Tam.

I would say get a UWA lens. You have covered the 35-200 range already, but don't have wide angle. Something like a Tokina 12-24 would be perfect. If you get a superzoom or a 16-85, their optical quality won't be as good as your primes, and they overlap with a lot of the range you have got covered with your current lenses.
