Sunny 16 is a rule of thumb to remember and practice when you are using a fully manual cam without light meter. it is able to ensure correct exposures.

sigh.. I'm very green with this rule.

australia.. dunno after my army gonna do what man.. Hope can get into local uni.. then study computer science... then get a decent job... then grow old and collect money from the software that i have written.. hahahah

Sunny 16? heh.. pai seh.. damn barren in the field of photography.. noobie ar.. :)

With no exposure meter, guesstimate the exposure by using Sunny 16 rule:

Sunny day set aperture to f/16 and 1/(Film speed)

Eg. if film speed ISO400 then f/16 1/400 is your exposure..

eh.. is it one value is the inverse of the other kinda thing?

hey, i got it right! cept for the aperture part.. why f16? why not f20? heh.. got reason behind the guesstimated value?

Yes...

Exposure is a combination of aperture and shutter speed.

For sunny 16 rule, first set aperture to f/16 and then set the shutter speed to the inverse of your film speed.

Then change your aperture or shutter speed from there according to light intensity/scene brightness

Oh yeah i read that from your previous post.. heh.. Photography is quite interesting.. the 35mm film format was first developed to use as a "mini movie" by some scientist i think.. read it off somewhere..

full time freelancing as a graphic designer and photographer... beck and call from event companies :)
how's business?

For the aperture size, it also depends on what kinda film one is using. Besides, some might intentionally under/over-expose... But generally it's f/16. You go try it out for yourself if it's f/16 or f/22 :D

anyway, another story from me:

a young couple, bf and gf have had a relationship for a year and the bf has decided to propose to her. SO in his romantic ways, he wrote a riddle to his gf to meet him at the beach - the place where they shared their first kiss.

The gf of coz very excited and went on to the beach. the sad thing is the bf, in his haste, forgot to indicate where to meet him as the beach's quite long. So the gf took her chance and headed EAST.

Sad to say, the bf was in the West...

An hour past and still no sign of his beloved... he wondered if he should head EAST and look for her but then again, his riddle should be quite clear: surely she would remember this breakwater where they kissed.

SO he leisurely walked to his car, took out his fishing rod and bait and proceeded to fish while waiting for his gf to appear.

after 15 minutes or so.. his rod bobbed and he quickly tried reeling in the catch.. the catch's really struggling now... and finally, with a mighty tug, he managed to land the catch :)

So, readers of this story, what did this guy catch? :D
