Hi AhV,

Received your sms this morning but forgot to reply because busy with something... Thanks for your concern, mine are all 2300mAh, and they are all ok.

Thanks

more specifically are the batteries you bought the 2500 ones with the plastic casing. From my understanding that is not supposed to be in Singapore in the first place where the official packs are blister packs without plastic casing.

Those batt we bought are also blister pack and come with extra plastic case.

i thought it was normal for this sanyo battery (2500) to drain fast until i found this thread.

my batt also in the batch of 05010A.....

Hi AhV,

I email u my info...thanks.

Got them from Sanyo direct. Seems like so far i only got 1 complain about leakage problem which is like 1 out of 140 packs.

Hmmm .....maybe you know sth we dun  ..but based on what was given ...some of the 'bad' batts were bought from EG, which always give us FREE plastic casing :) When the batts went bad, some of us reckoned that it was pointless to go back to them as they are not the manufacturer. They may not be aware of the discharge issue. As for me, I was expecting some response from SANYO since some of our members have raised the issue earlier. When I noticed that SANYO was not responding to earlier feedbacks given, I approached them. I hope we can all solve our frustration. Anyway, I will ask the manager about the packaging tomorrow. Just curious ... how are your batteries ?

cheers !

eh just managed to read thru the whole long thread...

my 2500mah batts seem depleted even though i left them alone for 2-3 days after charging fully....

ya 05-01-0A, 12 of them...

thanks AhV for the initiative n help

hope the problem gets solved soon :)

Oh gosh ...

I just stumbled upon this thread ...

Went to shoot waterfest and was shocked that my batch of 4 pieces of 2500mAh batts go totally flat on my PD Serial after fully charging them on my sanyo charger was a 1 off thing ...

My 8pcs 2500 NIMH (05-01-0A) too, but they dont come with casing leh. Onli left for a week after charging, and battery died liao. Initially was quite ok, now like !@#$. Wats the contact no. to their office and manager. We should all call to complain leh.
If they dont resolve this, I'm boycotting sanyo forever. :sticktong

04-09-S1 or -51 or -SI or -5I (can't be sure, imprint not clear), 8 pieces, bought Dec 2004.
05-01-0A, 4 pieces, bought May 2005.
04-09-SH, 8 pieces, bought June 2005.

I only check one battery from each date-batch I bought, seems that it doesn't matter when I buy and which batch number, they all lose charge in 1 day and cannot fire my camera or flash. So sad that my 3 years old 2100mAh holds charge better and more reliably, only that they are dying from too many charge-recharge cycles.

I think Temujin means that there's a kind of packaging that the 4 batteries are packed in the battery case, then the battery case is packed in the blister pack. I got a few of such packs from MO too, but haven't tried it out yet. Anyone has problems with such packs?

Hello AhV, thanks for the effort!
Can you find out if the recalls (if any) applies to batts sold in Malaysia as well? and is there Sanyo batts rep that could be contacted in Msia?

TQ

yup not external plastic case..hehe

Yup, I also have affected Sanyo 2500s.. they wont even power on my kodak digicam at all, not even a low battery LED :thumbsd:

I'm staying in KL actually, so how do I go about the replacement procedure?

i have about 30 of them! :(
most of them go flat within three days after a full slow charge.

just an update before I turn in for the 'night' or morning ....

I have met with the Japanese SANYO representatives of Singapore; specifically their Manager in charge of these 2500 batts and his Deputy Managing Director. Before we even commenced our discussion, I was pleasantly surprised to see a stack of printouts with our CS logo  Yup, they are here and they are monitoring this thread.

All of you who have given me your details will get your replacements once a solution is found. Since most of you were using MAHA chargers, I have left my BAD batt samples and MAHA with them for investigation. Meanwhile, they have left a SANYO charger for me to use. My batts and MAHA charger will be leaving for Japan on Monday. They will be subjected to high and stringent testings at their Japanese HQ. These were all explained to me. So, I will update once there are findings. If they need more BAD samples, I will be contacting you on their behalf. Let us just say, I am their appointed UNOFFICIAL CS SANYO AMBASSADOR .... so, membership does has its privileges :bsmilie: . I will be here for you guys till further notice..at least till a solution is found. However, I can only do so much... helping this wonderful community... any other consumers would ve to take it up with SANYO directly.

Throughout the discussion, they were apologetic for any inconvenience caused to us esp. photographers who require reliable batt power for our power-hungry digital/ camera equipments. They are committed to finding a solution asap. I have to thank all of you guys/ gals on their behalf as useful feedback would not ve been possible if you had not provided me with the relevant details. Yes, there are consistencies in the affected batches. So, we have already given them some useful info to work on. I have given them a list with those details requested from you earlier.

As for the blister packaging with batt case, they are not defective batches. These were meant as a promotion in some overseas market. Of cos, they were found to be sold locally. SANYO's reps have confirmed that they had never meant to sell BAD batts to consumers, irregardless of country. I hope this clarifies.

Oh ..if you are thinking of switching brands permanently, 'hold your horses'. They have informed that they have new longer lasting batts in the pipeline. In view of confidentiality and trust they had in me, I am not going to elaborate further :sticktong Anyway, SANYO is keen to instil confidence back in us. Give them some time and we will have our answers. Meanwhile, I will update or start a new thread accordingly. If you have just read this thread and are an affected user, do drop me an email (REFER TO FIRST POST FOR DETAILS)

Like I said, I get nth out from this. If you have given up on SANYO, I am not 'useful' to you then. If you wanna give them that second chance, like me as their earlier 2100s and 2300s are still serving me well, just give them some time and I am sure we will all have satisfactory answers/ solutions from SANYO. Keep your BAD batts and come back to this thread regularly. Meanwhile, let us all..wait patiently.

As for our neighbouring CS members, I will ask them what you can do if you had bought your batts in your country e.g. M'sia I am sure you will have a solution too. There will probably be another 'AhV" in your country ;p

BTW, I am too tired to clear my PM now..it's full ..do drop me an email if you are an affected user

a million thanks to AhV...

for ur effort and helpfulness...
