I think I am addicted to F1.2....

:bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

What would f/0 be like? :dunno:

F-number = focal length / diameter
so, diameter = focal length / F-number
So for F0, diameter will be infinite which is impossible.
We can try for F0.1 where focal length is 100mm, diameter of aperture will be 1m:o
It will be very very wide.

Come on man, show me a 50mm f/0 !!!!!!

Sorry to disappoint you, looks like f0 is impossible. :embrass:

Don't even go there. :bsmilie::bsmilie:

Noobie here using the 50mm f1.8 and I already feel like there's no going back to f4 etc. :D

Hehehe....my friend just came back from the USA, and I finally got the 24mm f1.4 !!!

Based on the short 15mins that I had to play with the lens yesterday night, I  the sharpness, colour and the bokeh. the 24mm is really just nice as a night walkabout lens. It is sufficiently wide enough to capture targets that are quite tall, and sufficient enough to capture decent landscapes and streets. This lens is much less restrictive in terms of perspective.. Looking forward to play with it this weekend!

how much u bought?

24mm F1.4
I got it from amazon [ http://www.amazon.com/Canon-24mm-An...CWCE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294983350&sr=8-1 ], then shipped directly to my friend's hotel.

USD1,574 x 1.36 (Credit Card's SGD/USD rate) = SGD$2,140

Cathay photo selling at $2,769 cash price. So its a savings of $629.

But take note, its only USA warranty, not international. But for the SGD$629 savings, its hard to justify purchasing it in Singapore.. Can easily get a 580 EXII with that money...

85mm F1.2

I got it at approx. SGD2,500 while Singapore is selling at least $3,500. This is abt $1,000 savings.

50mm F1.2

I got it at approx. SGD2,000 while Singapore is selling at least $2,400. This is abt $400 savings.

Moral of the Story?

For these 3 lens, I have saved abt $600 + $1,000 + $400 = $2,000. This $2,000 can easily get me another 35mm F1.4. [This one gota wait, dun think I need this anytime soon...]

Finally, ask Singapore retailers to fly kite, get from overseas and save ur hard earned money!

HAHAHA! TS, in your first post, you asked people to save you from being poisoned. Looks like the purpose of the this thread is actually to poison yourself and others further.

I really can't help it..... the poison is too strong seriously.....

And the worst is, the majority of the posters in this thread asked me to buy instead of stop

I am tempted by the EF 50mm F1.0L. If anyone of you wants to get it, John 3.16 is selling for 4.4k. Can let me play play a bit for a day :p

one very very very big thing that i like abt this lens compared to the 17-40 lens is that the distortion is much much much much lesser. on the extreme left and right of the image, we can see that the buildings are still straight and not curved/bend. whereas on the 17-40, buildings on the left and right of the image are always curved/bend...

Like to see a shot at ground level.

Totally agree with you. 24L is a remarkable lens.

But I think if we were to ship back, we will incur 7% GST, unless got friends over there who can tweak the prices when sending back. ;)

I think I am addicted to F1.2 lens already.... After using both canon 50mm F1.2 and 85mm F1.2 for quite some time, I realised that I have gotten used to the bright viewfinder and the fast speed of the F1.2 glass already.

I have been poisoned to the extent whereby I feel F2.8 lens are slow, and that F4 is cannot make it... I am sort of use to the capability of the 50 1.2 and 85 1.2 to take night shots at low iso...

In fact, nowadays when i look at lens, I only look at lens in the F1.4 region.... Unless there is no > F2 apeture of the lens in the range I wanted.

really jialat, even as of now my mind is hovering on the 35mm F1.4 liao...

[Just to share: In fact I have also been looking up reviews and threads on the Leica 50mm F0.95 and the canon 50mm F1.0 ]

Somebody pls save me from the poison... Anybody else in my poisoned category?

I'm already in critical condition with close to 20 premium glasses in my hand now. :( Really hard to rehabilititate once you are addicted. TS, you should consider getting a 50mm f1.0. Skip those manual lenses. :D

if u are there on holiday u can always bring back without being charged GST. just claim it is one of the lens u brought on holiday. flattened the lens box and check in with the luggage.

or ask help from someone on holiday there to bring back.
