I have a colleague who used to work in a vitamin supplement company and she said that the company now hires about 40% Pinoys. But the best part is, Singaporeans are paid $1.1k basic salary while the Pinoys are paid $1.8k! On top of that they are also entitled to all the incentives and commission that are enjoyed by the staffs.
Many of these Pinoys merely use Singapore as a stepping ground or springboard to jump to other countries to work such as Middle East of Canada, and because of their 'training' in Singapore they are normally accepted without even having to go for interview.
The only party that gets to benefit from this episode are those manpower outsourcing companies that recruits foreigners and allocate them jobs in Singapore!
Some say that local companies are hiring foreigners because they are cheaper but in your case it is not true. So the question to ask is how come the company is willing to pay more for pinoys but not locals? Is it because they work harder / can produce more than the locals? The thing I cannot stand with all the whining and complaining on the internet is that locals have this sense of entitlement like the companies / government / whole world owes them. When foreigners are paid less they complain they are spoiling the market. When foreigners are paid more they shoult unfair, high paying jobs should go to locals without looking first at what they can offer vs what FTs can offer. A protectionist economy no longer works in todays world.
