Many people and PRs in Sing are very rich. When they are very rich, the world is their oyster.
They effectively become world citizens. They can go anywhere and easily get PR/green card or whatever. So these who are used to a life of luxury are unlikely to risk getting wounded or die fighting for Sing. Have to be realistic about this.

I think ALL Singaporean, PR, Work Permit holder and everybody whose working and living in singapore should defence Singapore ... defence Singapore does not mean = military service, but in the sense, helping Singapore Economy, Social, and Law.

Yes, totally agreed, I feel it is long overdue that women be drafted. If I have daughters I will not apply SG citizenship for them unless they serve NS.

I agree with you. Most of the global citizens can travel anywhere they want to, or at least to the countries which need them. To even have some of the talent here is already a privilege. Just one of my encounters recently, we badly need a talent, tried to get an employment pass for him here, but got delayed by MoM for months. I think it's probably due to the change in government policy, to tighten up immigration. And truth is, no local has his kind of capability.

The result, money is lost, crucial activities are delayed. I think the government has to relook into its recent tightening of the immigration policies.

Instead of complaining as if the world owes him a living, he should start looking at what skills he can improve on to make him more desirable in the job market.

When the cleaner at the food court is a PRC they complain that it is so irritating that they can't speak english, if the cleaner is a Singaporean old aunty then it is the government's fault that old aunties have to clean tables, when someone asks them will they consider a job as a cleaner they say that it is below them. That means they are not happy whenever the cleaner is a foreigner / old Singaporean / young Singaporean. So who should be cleaning tables?
