i just got my K-x!

I am sitting on the fence now....

Last friday at company's D&D, won a Sony A550 and will be collecting either tomorrow or Thursday.

Now my wife is nagging me to sell off the navy blue K-x... she prefer the SONY branding

Thanks to all the low bids received, maybe still got chance to convince wifey to keep as backup for holiday trips....

Congratulations on winning a A550. It should be a good camera as well from what I've read.

I'd still try to psycho you to stay with Pentax though :D
Think of limited lenses.
Think of the many lenses (old and new)
Think of the price of the Sony stuff (lens and accessories) in the long run
:D

Yeah, branding so very important. Influences ppl to think that a product is better and gives peer pressure. I ever overheard a lady customer in Harvey Norman declare "I want a Sony camera" "Sony makes all the BEST things"
Yeah! Right! I think the only thing they now make that is BEST is the PS3 (arguably) and PSP (w/o doubt).

I think SONY does have its potential to be a good player, although they are a little late and new. But remember that they make (good) CCD/CMOS, which is the core of the DSLR.

I personally will buy one, even if they make a full manual DSLR with their top sensor and output RAW only. (but sure, MUST be cheap! lol :D)

If I am not wrong, the A550 brand new cost more than the Kx? Might as well sell off the A550 as it has higher value and use the money to get 2 limited lenses. Maybe even have cash left to buy us coffee. Or buy another kx so you and your missus have a matching pair when you go out! ;)

$630..there is a price guide available on the main forums also

I am hoping for the worst offer :bsmilie: so that I will have good reason to keep the k-x. Here's one up for the low-ballers:thumbsup:

SONY A900 is the cheapest full frame, if I'm not wrong.

It's my wife I am facing every day :what: she prefer SONY A550 knowing the value is higher than k-x.

Anyway the new cam cost me nothing ... maybe a few hundred to extend the warranty plus getting the PwP lens promotion ..

I think A850 is, hit the range below 3K. And there is a rumored A750 coming next month, rumored to be full frame and below 2K. BUT.... I am DREAMING one below 1K, :D

Really?
I am wondering now since I have not collected the cam from SonyStyle, will they allow for upgrade to A750 (with cash top-up of course) if I put off the collection until next month. hmmm. maybe I will call them later.

even lowballers can get angry if they have been led u know? why u so honest? :sweatsm::bsmilie:

IMO the Sony a550 is just an expensive entry-level. Although touted as a 'mid-range' camera, it doesn't have the standard features all other mid-ranges have, i.e. pentaprism, second command dial, secondary LCD. It's main claim-to-fame is the capability to use phase-detect AF while in live-view. Well, there's an articulating screen and pretty impressive frame rate. Other than that... I don't think it's really better than the Pentax K-x, especially since the Pentax K-x can do video recording and the Sony a550 can't.

The Sony a750 is unlikely to be a real full frame. More likely to be a replacement for the a700 which is a real mid-range DSLR.

Minister of Home Affairs and Finance is very powerful. Don't play play
SONY means SONY, don't try to argue. :D

I'd buy a manual Pentax FF DSLR that only does M mode with stop down metering if it cost $1k.

Oh, that is for sure! But I assume pentax FF DSLR will only come after the year 2012 (ref. movie <2012>) :(

I am planning on getting the Pentax Kx, but it appears that the Kx comes only in the kit package. Problem is I'm planning to get the Tamron 17-50, won't the kit 18-55 lens become redundant.

Any suggestion or advise is appreciated.

tell urself the kit lens is part of the free gift... :bsmilie:

anyway dun discount the kit lens... it can be quite useful in certain situation... i would keep the kit lens and get the 50mm f1.4 instead...

follow what most of them did by selling it off?:bsmilie: Anyway, for me, i will just keep the kit lens, add 50-200 or 55-300 and 50 f/1.4 is good enough for me to go anywhere with them. :)

As others have already mentioned. The kit lens is a very low part of the cost. Sell it and its only ~$70. Even if the seller can take it in (unlikely to be even $70) and sell you body only. You only save this small amount (a good day out can easily cost you this amount). So just treat it as 'free'. Move on and get the other lenses you want and start shooting :D

Hello. I so proud of my new toy today!

after reading so many positive reviews online. I decided to head down to SLR Revo today to buy my 1st dslr. All my friends objected against Pentax as they are canon/dslr users. Sh*t my friends! I wanna BE INTERESTING! :bsmilie:

gonna use auto 1st while slowly explore the beauty of k-x. any quick guide for me? :sweatsm:

Bye AWS! Hello Pentax!
