How to tell from the specs that your camera is a FF or Crop?

Under the camera's specifications, look at the senor size. Use 36mm divide by the length of your camera sensor and you will get the crop factor.

No worries, 50D is NOT a full-frame, not even the highly advertised 7D using Ken Watanabe to promote it... unless you get 5D or 1D. Did my research way before I've decided on my DSLR - which I still haven't even purchased yet... :bsmilie:

Recently saw a gentleman at canon digilab asking the personal there, can you recommend me a semi-pro body. But from the question he ask, can tell that he have very limited knowledge on photography.

Sound like $$$ seem to be no object to most people nowadays, hence to them getting the best in the market would "guarantee" a great shot...

:bsmilie: Type "crop sensor camera" into google or youtube and you will get many explanations. Alot are simplified and easy to understand.

You will even come across the term "APS-C" which you can again input into google for a detailed explanation.

You can also try "50d crop" in google and you will get this result

No harm... If Canon 1D/1Ds was never on your shortlist, no harm came from you overlooking the fact that the 1D is an APS-H model, and the 1Ds is a full-frame one.

50d is crop.

There are many different kinds of people in the world. Just coz we hang around CS, doesn't mean that the majority of people are like us, poring over specs trying to compare which is the best bargain before we buy.

Then again, the rich also fall into many categories; some became rich because they are frugal while others are rich therefore can afford not to be frugal. Rich is, of course, just a term that is more difficult to define, and means differently to different people

Well, that could be easy! I think I know how to teach you, urm...let's see:

1) how to charge the battery...
2) change lenses
3) look into the view finder...
4) adjust the focus ring...
5) press the "shoot" button...
6) and MOST importantly... download the images to your PC...
7) format your PC... ya? :bsmilie:

There are only a handful of Full Frame DSLR.. just do a google and you will have ocean of information.

Canon has 1DS and 5D series as FF

1D series as 1.3X cropped (7D ? not bothered)

Rest all 1.6X cropped
