How to resist the upgrade itch.

1. Don't read reviews
2. Don't go fo SEEDs
3. Break ties with friends who have better equipment than you. DO NOT try out their equipment.
4. Stay away from the Peninsula area.
5. Heck, get yourself offline

No comparison, no upgrade itch, no lust, no loss of money.

Regards
CK

many say buy what u need...........but as I say...........most of us dun really need cameras right?
its a hobby, u dun die from not having camera
[I know many would say........can't do without their cam......me too lah!]
but what i am saying is a fact^_^

so very much difficult to justify when is "need" and out grown......thats also very much subjective^^

ha.......it all goes of with a cam [recently someone just told me .......for him.....it all goes off with a camera bag^^|haha],

after u buy cam......u buy accessories.......after u buy accessories.....u back to the start again......buy cam........then so on and so fort^^|.......

ha........is this why we say this world is every changing?^^

its all too late......hahah

or try doing it right the first or second time?

I don't see much reason to upgrade from my current camera now.... none of the models released after mine really excites me enough to "migrate".

That said, I went out to buy a small compact film camera to complement my digicam ;p

Just stop for a moment and think abt the other things u can buy wif that amt of $$$ and u may stop this craze.

1Ds loh. no more upz to upgrade to.

camera porn? gee now cameras also go nude! :P

* Goondu hasn't upgraded yet and still has his G2 with him ... :dent:

i promise i will definitely stop upgrading as soon as i upgrade to the complete set of equipments i am dreaming of everyday and night...

Perhaps, it is down to self discipline.

Not easy but achieveable.

When you buy, it's considered upgrade.
When you sell, it's considered downgrade.

Not necessarily so... Right?

Just buy whatever it's within your means with good gotten cash. :)

Anyway, who wanna get rid of that nikon macro sitting in their dry cabinet? :D

P.s. This site is really a bad influence. I would never have know so many gardget to buy if not for this forum. :p

goondu.......wonder ...u really never even for once tot of upgrading?

The thought is there, just like the thought of striking Toto Group 1 price.

But most important reason of all, I have a financial controller with me for the rest of my life. :dent:

Yes, it meets my needs but like I said, I have a financial controller with me for the rest of my life. :dent:

And likewise, my F601 with it's 50mm is still with me after all these while. ;)

Seriously... after one equipment-whore was so happily gushing how fast his AF was, as compared to some other cameras, i pointedly told him in this face, the subjects i take don't move that fast. ;p

After that episode, it made me realise how caught up one can get, when it comes to gear and equipment and that allowed me to get over this upgrading craze...

So really, it's all up to the person and how "contented" he/she is. If you realise with what you have, you can make great pictures, then hey, why bother to upgrade?

You want? Buy.
you've got the resources to do so? Buy.
From then on, go make great pictures and share them.
Don't bother impressing anyone here with equipment.

It's the pictures you take that speaks volumes.

:)

buy until u run out of money and into real financial difficulty. then u will really appreciate the difference between toy and bread.

ha.......so sometimes when there is someone to help control is gd?^^

anyway.....was thinking of control............but think again, A40 serve me well cos i dun really bother abt the flash for the moment.

then i tot of Aperture prioty, but to think again........shutter control more or less same right? just cannot have full control of aperture and not so convinent.

and........most imptly........i see great pics of A40^^
mades me feel i should shoot more..haha

althought at the moment no upgrade craz......but i belief it will come again......so wonder what do u guys do^^|hahaha........
thankx ...see so many type of prevention...hahah,
dun worry, i won't stay away from clubsnap........hahah

Improve your self-esteem.

Honest. If you feel good about the photos that you take with the camera and is confident that an upgrade does not improve your pictures, you will not have the urge to do so.

Unless of course, you're the ego type ("My self-worth is based on my material goods") or the center of attraction type ("I must have the latest equipment so people will like me").
