How to help clubsnap become a world class forum?

from the same few tiffs with the same few people.. luckily they post less now :bsmilie:

that's a reason why maybe mod account shuold be separate from user account.. oh well.

Anything anyone dislikes about this forums?

For 1, I kind of dislike 2 of the moderators as they pass to me as arrogant and talks as if they are of higher standing and knows better than you.

I've nvr got this impression when participating in forums like DPreview, FM forums and xitek and found the admins and mods to be humble, pleasant and sincere. I think I am risking my account but I was sort of hoping that this tread may help propel clubsnap to greater heights.

Anyone got anything to contribute?

I can roughly guess which 2 moderators Blue Monster is refering to, which LeeJay has nailed one of them. (Yah?)I wonder how the moderators were chosen.

Based on calibre and depth of photography knowledge?
Or based on the number of post counts and maximum clocktime in CS? :dunno:

If the latter is the criteria, then all seems clear why those 2 were chosen as moderators?
One of them often post lame remarks in othe people threads and create unconstructive threads, seemingly just to increase his own thread counts. I was puzzled when CS chosen him as one of the moderators. Even after he was given the moderator rank, he did not "behave" himself to the standard of what moderators should be nor set good example himself. But other than them, I have to admit the rest of the moderators deserves the moderator rank are doing great job! :thumbsup:

I only feel jason is doing a good job to the extend of replying your PM and undertsanding what went wrong.

I have just gotten a Major infraction..sometime which i felt unjust.

Just because i applauded someone for having strong lady values,MOD accuse me of 'helping' the girl.

Read the thread posted below and I think that the mod did get a little too passionate.

That said. What on earth does a warning do? Do you get locked out after a certain number of 'warnings'? As an adult who has a pretty informed mind and very capable of independent thought, a phrase like 'I am warning you' sounds..well juvenile to me, to be honest.

Re the original question about what would make this place world class?
A maturity to allow that others may not share your opinions, and gasp, choice of equipment.

but some ppl take forum talk too seriously..
a bit of common sense and tolerance for fellow human beings and a censorship on one's own witty sarcastic remarks will go a long way in making this forum more frenly

People, if this is ever going to be a proper feedback thread, then I suggest the feedback be constructive.

It is looking very much like a mod-bashing session in disguise. If you do have personal issues with particular moderators, take it up to them personally. Insinuations and bringing out skeletons from the closet does no one any good - especially so when comments are taken out of context.

Us moderators are VERY visible targets, but would you rather us stay invisible until the infractions start coming out, or want us to participate in active discussion?

True, we may not be the best photographers around, but we are trying our best to bring the community closer together in whatever circles we participate in - please, if anyone thinks he/she may contribute in this, step forward.

Don't let yourself be nothing but an armchair critic.

Hi blue monster,

This is not a world class forum !

This is a world class photography site !!!!

I am in Australia right now, I have travelled to Singapore to visit great photographers there that use this site.

We....All of us are using this great photography site "free of charge" and the people that run it and moderate it do it for free.

Do we, "as users of this site," have any standing to question any part of it, when what we contribute is free and what we take is free also.

I am not typing this as a point at you; more so to those that complain.

If I have anything wrong with what I have said... please let me know.

pablo has a very good point, i don't know about other countries but i have been trying to look for a photog forum for the uk

but either you have to pay, or the photog forum base is so small that it's practically useless

well, he is giving a suggestion. many have already done what you stated, so you can either have the mentality which is "migrate lor is you not happy here" (sounds familiar?), or just here out the suggestions and see if it is useful or not.
